I registered with ebay some years ago and today is the first time i used the service to buy something. My bid was succesful and i then set up a Paypal account thinking I could use it immediately. It looks like i have to wait 2 working days to get my paypal code before i can pay the seller. Is this a potential problem? Does the seller expect to be paid immediately? thanks for any info.

Payment within a week is usually fine but it is good form to pay as soon as possible. Might be no harm to drop the seller a message letting them know that you have to wait a day or two.

    Thanks OLEATTA,
Can the seller be paid directly through his bank account or is this against the rules of ebay?

It is up to the seller rather than EBay to decide what payment methods are acceptable. Payment by bank transfer is certainly possible but from my own experience if the seller is outside Ireland the bank fees for such a transfer can be prohibitive. Paypal is definitely the easiest and most convenient option.

ebay used to have it's own payment system called billpoint, they cancelled that out and closed the site, and then they bought paypal. Ever since ebay bought paypal, it's been dreadful, paypal charge a lot in surcharges, and I've hand numerous people scam money from me, and payapl took their side.In short, ebay and paypal are OK, but dont rely on them too much.
