Alright guys im giving up on getting an Iphone since its just too much hassle and too expensive for what you get with a 2mp camera etc
Anyways getting a N95 8GB tomorrow from Meteor for €169 on the €20 tariff.
Whats the story with the free 3g trial is it available in blanchardstown on bill pay.

Switching from Vodafone, anything i should know before i do. my 18 month contract is long finished

It's (the 3G trial) not available in Blanch - assuming they haven't added any stores since the promo started.

    ++ edit

Would suggest getting it from carphone warehouse - they're doing a trade-in on selected phones. Up to 50 euro, see stores for details.

Not worth it, my RAZR v3xx is hardly worth a penny, its all scratched and crap :p,
what ya mean? I just rang carphone warehouse ten seconds ago and they have 14 n95s in stock in blanch shopping centre, getting a PAYG sim card and giving my old phone to my mam

You do have to sign a contract for 12months at 20euro a month, you know that right?

AFAIK the condition of the phone doesn't matter - if it's on the list, you get 30, 40 or 50 euros. Not sure if yours is on the list.

Yeah sure i know that, paying 30 euro a month atm with vodafone on one of their ancient tariffs with no inclusive texts etc
Dont use data all that much anyways so free 3g isnt all too important.
I've been with vodafone a near 20 months, should i be able to get a upgrade to an n95 for the same money? Not too sure about meteor, quite happy with vodafone tbh but an n95 at 169 is a steal.

Upgrade eligibility says im not not eligible (according to my vodafone)

I'm in two minds too at the moment whether to get an N95 or an IPhone.

Am interested in listening to music, watching videos.

Am very interested in the Sat Nav side of things, have heard the iphones sat nav isnt all great compared to n95. I'll be using it for travelling in Europe.

I have a Vodafone N70 at the moment and my monthly bill is approx €80

    Any ideas?

iphone has a great interface(I had the original it was great fun and nice looking, safari web browser was good)
The N95 however is alot more capable in the features and multimedia side of things and Nokia are alot more experienced on the actual phone side of things.

Im getting an n95 8gb tomorrow so I might be a tiny bit biased ;)

The N96 is due out soon (not sure when exactly) to replace the N95. Not sure if you wanna bear that in mind?

I have a Sony Ericsson K800i myself for the last while. Great phone, but thinking of trading up to an N95/6 in the next while as I've started using the interweb on my phone and browsing on the K800i pretty much sucks ass.

Internet on the iPhone rocks, but I still wouldn't buy one...

i know the N96 is coming out but its gonna cost an arm and a leg for atleast 1 year sure the n95 is still 300 euro plus on vodafone bill pay etc on lowest tariff.
Picked up this N95 8gb today for 169 picked the 20 euro tariff and a tenner insurance off carphone warehouse.
Sim free phone works on any and all sim cards out of the box.
No meteor crap on the phone at all.
    Deadly
Anyone know the best GPS for this ?

so ya tellin me the N95 when bought with Meteor through the carphone warhouse is SIM free outa the box??????????????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,992 ✭✭✭✭partyatmygaff

Yes its in a nokia box standard, no meteor branding on the box phone or anything apart from the sim card.
Its sim free, tried it out with my O2 line, my vodafone line and of course the new meteor line.

    ;)
    Works a treat!
Absolutely savage phone(Especially since ive upgraded from a motorola V3 :p) but cant seem to get GPS lock on my phone using google maps.

I can't get the GPS to work with the Google Maps app either on the N95. It just seems to locate you to the nearest cell tower. The nokia maps works fairly well though...

BTW does anyone know how to copy and paste from a webpage using any browser on the N95? It is really doing my nut in, would be willing to pay for this feature! I need it for copying large amounts of text in to putty. edit: I mean all text not just links and the like.

    Help me!

PS on the iphone note - I'm sure apple with improve it with each and every new release. They always make their money from the cash flush early adopters and generally improve their products after a period of fleecing to the vain. So yes I think the first one is to be avoided especially for its battery life. Got a 2000 mAh battery (normal is 1200 mAh) for the N95 in Hong Kong - it is the ultimate piece of kit with that. Especially since it cost €9 :)
