    Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has any advice or knows of any product I can use to help clear up the red marks left on my face after a bad breakout of acne? I've heard that vitamin D is supposed to be good but with our Irish "summer" the way it is I don't think I can only rely on sunshine...grrr

    Thanks a million :)

Are you female? (not that it matters)

I find green concealor to be good..the green takes away the red. You can also get some stuff from Avon (Clearskin) that reduces the marks too

Also, bio oil (you can get it from the chemist) is very good too! Put it on at night tho, because its an oil :)

    Best of luck!

micro derm abrasion is greeat for things like that, i have smaller red marks around my chin from years ago and i find it really good, they recommend you do 6 sessions, one evry couple of weeks. Costs about 70 euro for about 40 mins. They give you a facial with masques etc after getting it done. Its a small machine like a pen that has sand and mineral particles in one side and a vaccum on the other and they run it all over your face, focusing on the problem areas.
Not only does it reduce and remove the red marks but it leaves your skin unbelievably smooth and glowing.....well worth the money.
I would say most beauty salons do it, i find the Nu Essance one off Grafton St really good.

I found nicam gel( you get it behind pharmacy counter in boots) great for fading red marks.

It is for active acne, but also considerable fades red marks, i found it eliminates them, was the best i found. Also because its for acne, it wont enourage futher break outs.

Think its around 25 euro but would last for about 4 or 5 months if used every day all over face -its a big tube so its worth it!!

I had never heard of it either, just saw it randomly in Boots beside the paoxlys ect and decided to get it. I found it brilliant, it really stopeed my acne, get maybe max one spot a month now, use the stuff twice a day. before this i had taken anti biotics, dianette ect so my skin was bad.

It has Nicotinamide 4% if you look it up you ll see it is a form of B3, and is an anti inflamatory. Unlike panoxly and those other ones, it doesnt bleach anything so its way better.

When i first used it my skin was dry (only a little bit now nothing like panoxyl, that used to dry my skin crazy) for the fist 10 days. After that my skin was perfect no dryness, nothing, i dont mositurise btw.

Btw nicam is the non marketed form of freederm gel, dont know why more people dont know about it!

yeah why not, i know everyone skin is different but i found it brilliant..way better than antibiotics it was weird.

I have used it for the last 3 months and am clear now. It did take about 2 months to get totally clear for me, you know acne stuff it take ages, but i did find an imporvement straight off.

make sure you use it twice a day for best results , i think it prevents them putting it on morning and night. At night i put on a bit more of the stuff. ITs clear btw so you wont see it.

Under make up it can go a bit flakey if you put on to much, but usually i find it i just lightly rub off any few flakes if this happens with a tissue make up is totally fine:)

Thanks for all the replies and the information, some really good ideas and suggestions. Will definitely try the nicam gel...at this stage not only am I left with red marks but I'm in the middle of another 'break out'. I'm on dianette and also using isotrexin (I think it works on active spots but does nothing for the red marks, I also find it really drying). I'm a bit 'iffy' about the bio oil simply because my skin hasn't totally cleared up but when it will (fingers crossed) i'll check it out! Thanks again :)
