    hi,

I'm in Galway, is anyone elses TV Signal from UPC very "jumpy"?
Mine seems to freeze for a second then jump on again.

I've checked the cables going into the UPC box and the TV.

    Anyone else come across this?
    Thanks
    Conor

UPC CS have had a message on their line for the past 2-3 hours telling us there is a "temporary" fault that their on-site engineers are working on...

    Yep.

    Dead as a doornail.

    Real pain...

And why can't they give an update on their website? Bit ironic for a broadband provider.

Regular Pace STB still not working here.

3pm update on UPC CS line still refers to a temporary fault.

Would hate to know how long a serious fault would take to fix.

Do UPC also run the air traffic control radar system??

    :D

The blackout are due to UPC changing the encryption key to the hope of make non-UPC {NTL} decoder into bricks.

But since they are doing it in a "security though obscurity" your box need to update it self with the new key every time they change it.

So from the time of the key change on UPC's side to your UPC {NTL} STB receiving the new key and updating its self you will not be able to view anything due to not been able to decode it.

The small pace boxes where out from 10.30 this morning until just before 5pm.

Customer Service from UPC was pathetic - Paying approx €1,000 pa to UPC and getting this level of service is simply unaccepatable.

My viewing of premium Live Sports was ruined today thanks to the UPC and not a word of apology - not that you could ever contact them!!

If I now switch to Sky will I get the €10 downgrade charge from UPC.....

Ever since we got UPC digital into the house a few weeks ago (in Clonskeagh area), certain channels tend to stutter and stall, both video and audio, as mush as once or twice a minute. Ive tried a few different cables but had no success in improving things. Also since installing the boxes, the reception through analogue has deteriorated on Chan 4, E4 & Discovery as well.

Is there anything i can do to fix this, put in a tv signal booster or something, or should i be calling UPC out to fix it??

That's a wiring issue, most likely in your building itself or on the street.

Call UPC, tell them to fix it or you're cancelling your subscription. If the picture's breaking up like that the service simply doesn't work so you shouldn't be paying the bill either it works or it doesn't.

Try re-tuning those three, Chan 4, E4 & Discovery, as we got a letter in June saying that when you were connected to the upgraded network, it would be necessary. UPC seem to think that once you subscribe to their digital service, you'll never watch analogue again and must have forgotten to tell you when they connected you to digital.

Problems with analogue channels may indeed be a tuning issue, but if you're having problems with digital reception. You've no control over this, it's a UPC issue and you need to get them to resolve it. Again, I would stress, do not put up with dodgy reception. You are paying a considerable amount of money for this service, and you're subject to a minimum term of contract. If the service isn't up to scratch they need to either fix it a.s.a.p. or remove it and refund you. Also, if the reception's terrible, you are entitled to close the account. Do not accept any b/s from their customer help line. If the service doesn't work, they're in breech of the contract and you're entitled to terminate it. They will try to tell you otherwise, if they do, contact the consumer association and seek advice.
