Recommend me an external harddrive

I would like to get some advice on getting an external harddrive. I'm not sure what I should be considering apart from its capacity - 250GB would be more than enough.

I think I would also like one that is a USB harddrive as I would probably move it around a bit and the ones with their own plug seem a bit bulky.

Are there any brandnames to be avoided? I presume ebay/amazon or komplett would be the best websites. Also is there a big price difference between buying in a shop and online?

The western digital drives are quite good. Look nice too which is always a bonus.

+1 For the WD Passports. I got mine (250Gb) on komplett and it seemed like a decent enough price; no problems with it thus far.

But that's one that needs to be powered through the mains. He's looking for one that's powered through the usb port.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm just after ordering the passport one from komplett - cost just under €100 including postage.

No harm in seeing the alternatives but there is no way I would need a terrabyte in the near future anyway.

    Cheers
