I don't go into the attic as there are monsters ther. I doubt that giving them air conditioning will make them less scary.

    I got one too.
Note: they weigh a tonne- if you are thinking of storing it in the attic......
well, not literally, but they are incredibly heavy.
I was slightly worried about it coming through the ceiling- which is why I didn't store it up there......

With electricity prices set to increase yet again, would one of these units be wise. I'd imagine that may be quite expensive to run.

Mine is classed "C"- a heavier user of power than a refrigerator- but a lot better than many units out there. Yes, its expensive and a luxury- but its more efficient than some of the alternates.

If anyones interested Aldi in Santry still have a couple of these left. Thanks to Ninty for pointing me these out I dropped into this branch today and got one of the last three or so. Have it working in the conservatory (which becomes a furnace on a warm day) and it's brilliant.

Not a surprise they're selling these off, there's not much need for air conditioning with the summer we're having! :(

They'd do a roaring trade in dehumidifiers if they stocked them. Whatever about the temperature- its impossible to sleep at night when you're covered in sweat- and cold at the same time........

Can these units be used freestanding in a room, or do they have to be vented to the outside?

They do have to be vented.
They come with a 1.2m venting tube (diameter of about 8cm)

    I got one Sunday.
I use it to AirCon a shop that gets very hot when full.

The Aldi (Delte) system is to replace a tired old AirCon.

    Just a point to note:
All free standing (mobile) Aircon systems are noisy because the refrigerator is in the system where wall mount AirCon come in to parts. The inside fan and the outside Cooler unit.

This system is a little more noisy then the last one but it works very very well. Its also remote control.

A good unit all round and keeps the shop nice and cool.

    PS it’s also a dehumidifier

Think I managed to get the last one in Aldi Galway - was reduced to €99.99
