New Weekly League

Im setting up a new Poker League.

It will be hosted weekly in a bar on a weeknight.
Over the course of 12 or 16 weeks.

Top 20 players will be invited to the League Final.

Game will start at about 7pm and run up to 12pm+. So we aim for 5hours of play.

Anyone got ideas on an interesting tournament structure?

Lets say 5k starting stack, no rebuys...

Ive been running pub leagues for the past 5 years and structure really depends on numbers if the pub is going to be strict on closing time. Luckily there has been plenty of leeway regarding finishing time in my venues. We get anything between 12 and 35 runners and the structure is an 8k stack, 500 early bird + 1k bonus for players present at start so average stack will be 9k approx. Blinds are 15 mins and start at 25/50, 50/100, 75 /150 etc and on average tourneys last 4 to 4.5 hours.
    Our points structure is 1st - 20, 2nd -15, 3rd - 12. 4th - 10, 5th - 9, 6th - 8, 7th -7, 8th - 6, 9th - 5, 10th - 4, 11th - 14th - 3, 15th - 18th -2, 19th+ - 1.

Our top 10 qualify for the final with players getting 50 chips per point plus extra chips fr their finishing position. e.g. First at end of league gets 10k extra chips, 2nd - 7k, 3rd - 5k etc etc. This ensures that players will try and play the max amount of rounds to maximise their chips for the final.

    Good luck with it.

You are going to have to post more details than this if you want the topic to stay open.

Coillte_Bhoy has posted a pub structure, and if you search the Tournament forum you will find more pub tourney information.

Also, are you affiliated with any online poker rooms?

    Dont have an affiliate yet.

But working on one as a sponcer.

Also now wondering what is a good price for entry.
    I am planning for €50 + €5

Notes: No dealers, I will be able to provide a buffet, or sandwichs. Waiters will be present.

Anyone any ideas to fund the Final?
Maby taking 10% from the weekly purse?

Or should this be the sponcer.

Any affiliate info would be great...

I left the casino 1year ago. Enough said on that one...

Setting up my own proper club now.
Have the venue just need the structures?

This is why Im asking you lot, for opinions.

Although there are no dealers we will provide food. Equipment will be of high standard for a pub league (We will have good tables, proper chips and cards). And we also hope to have an added pool for the League Final.

    Does €30 + €3 sound fairer?

dealers are a fundemental part of a good game !

    Also the most expensive

Unless your playing 100+10 is hard to afford dealers...

The game I play every week in Rathfarnam and Stillorgan is 30 + 5 and is dealer dealt. I know many others on Boards play the same game.

If you worked in a casino (which one?) , maybe you could go with one of their structures that you are used to ? Or the one Coillte suggested is good too.

The best of luck with it and let us know if you get it off the ground.

By the way - dealers are essential, I think it will fail otherwise - just my opinion - I wouldnt play if it wasn't dealer dealt.

Go to the Fitz on a Sunday afternoon and have a look at that - That's 27 + 3 and is not dealer dealt - they get a lot of runners but it's cos it's 3 euro rego and it's full of beginners . . .

PS - there are lots of places online where you can source things like tourney structures - you will get better results from doing your own research.

Dont know if I can link this mods (remove if not)

www.homepokertourney.com has loads of advice and different structures suggested on there. ( I have no association with this site )

    Good luck
