How long is a piece of string?

Why are you interested in doing it?

I don't do dentistry but I'm involved in the health sciences in TCD. as far as I know, 1st year you do the anatomy of the head and neck, which is (allegedly) the hardest human anatomy to learn. You also have FCUKING PBL which is an absolute pain in the ass. They give you a problem to research and then you all sit around in a circle and try to shout your point over other people. Although the point of this is to try to improve your communication skills but it doesn't work like that in reality. Other than that, I suppose it wouldn't be too bad

Doesn't dentistry have one of the highest levels of suicide in any profession?

Howya, I'm doing Dentistry...no, it's not that hard to pass...it's hard to get first class honours, but sure then aren't all courses-about 15-18 hours a week in 1st year, of which about 8 you have to go in for, but you probably will spend 3-4 hours a day in the Dental Hospital, where practically all of the course is taught. Dentists as a rule tend to stick together, and form tight social groups, although the whole class do get on, but after second year, or even after first year, most of your best college friends will be dentists.

The social side is pretty good, you get to know a lot of the hygienists and nurses and people in other years through the common room in the hospital, where everyone hangs out. The class is about 40 people, of which the majority are generally girls. Almost everyone passes, this year 7 of 40-something had to do the repeats, a lot less than the meds I think. PBL is really annoying, 90% attendance or you have to do remedial sessions over the summer-90% is attainable though, I do perform best when drunk. Good luck!
