iPhone with o2 SIM?

Will an iPhone work with a pay as you go o2 sim card without unlocking??? I've tried asking o2 but 1 person says one thing and another with tell you another! Typical. Any know from experience?

If the iphone is O2 billpay there's no reason an O2 prepay SIM shouldn't work in it.

:(a paygt sim works grand. ive had a problem with the 3g service today, so ive had to use my payg sim inj order top send texts, no internet or email. sapparently soime apple problem according to 02:(

and it is a brand new 3g iphonme on a new contract. so i dont know a????
