It is with some regret that have decided to leave Ring Announcing behind me. My appearance at the Battle of Antrim on the 2nd of August will be my final MC gig, barring the Galway shows.

I wish to thank, John Kavanagh for giving me my start, Davy Patterson, Marty Walker, Jonny Burrowes and all the promoters who booked me in the last 4 years. I loved every minute of it, as I am sure everyone knew :)

Nothing lasts forever though, and with the current demands on my time, something has to give. I will always be available to any MC for advice or any help of any kind, and I wish the very best of luck to whomever my replacements will be.

so if we want to hear "lets give it up for these two warriors" we'll have to go to tribal warfare?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,995 ✭✭✭Tim_Murphy

If this doesn't fill the seats at the next Tribal Warfare i don't know what will! :)

Seriously though, Mark will be missed, he was IMO by far the best MC I've seen at an Irish event.

Bruce Buffer and Lenne Hardt are breathing a sighs of relief.

Enjoy your "retirement" Mark you always did a deadly job!

Fair well to Mark 'The Exaggerator' Leonard,
Believe it or not, not everyone had the ego busting opinion of your MC'n abilities as the usuall posters on here. How ever we will miss your blatant over promoting of fighters with fight records you can write on the back of a stamp and about a much experience as a blind man in a game of 'I Spy' as warriors who have been through wars. Your ability to announce everyone with an entrance that would make Couture or Liddell blush is unrivaled.

And now. . . . . .Roll on the defensive hatred filled replies of the handfull who will not allow another person to have an opinion contrary to the usual posters here.

(and always remember...... even Pamela Anderson had her Knockers:D )

Oh and in closing, i'm sure Ron Burgandy would be greatfull if you could stop plagiarising him now.

Its one thing to have a point of view which may differ from the majority on this thread..... but it is another to be able to put that point across in a manner which does not offend or insult people.

Although the last part of your post sometimes rings true on this forum , I think the manner of your post is inviting a hostile response.

I also dont feel there is any need to defend Marks MCing:D

Translation : Mark you did exactly what an MC should do. Hype the fight.

P.S - Ron Burgandy is not a real person, script was written by Will Ferrell.;)

Thanks everyone for your kind words, as originally posted it was a lot of fun, and I will still dust off the mic for Tribal Warfare shows.

So your criticising mark for doing a good job? its his job as an mc to big up everything and to make the atmosphere great, wheter you like mark or not you cant deny that he played an important role in making the shows entertaining. he'll be missed from the shows-end of.

    There ya go, fixed.

Mark, one of my best memories of MMA in Ireland was RoT I. And not only how MMA exploded onto the Irish scene (or rather Irish MMA exploded onto the scen) but also for the entertainment value you brought to the whole thing.

    Thank You.

Not everyone thought he done a good job (You can hardly call the posters on here unbiased or Impartial so there say doesn't count for much in my book)
I'm simply having my say, i think there is a big difference between big up'n someone and flat out exagerating there abilities and I never said he didn't make it entertaining.
To say he will be missed from shows, well thats your opinion and maybe the opinion of others and you 're intitled to it but its not the opinion of everyone.
    end of.

In what way am i biased towards Mark?
I am impartial and am speaking as a rival coach to mark so dont understand where your coming from, your the 1st person i've ever seen that wants mc's to play down fighters, anyone who gets in there has heart and deserves to be bigged up imo.

LOL, I vote My 2 Cents to take over from Mark.

"...and his opponent, I used to roll with him in the gym and didn't think much of his skills, here he comes with only two MMA fights behind him and looking a bit soft between you and me..."

Now then, in a more serious note,

My 2 Cents, Mark posted her to let people know he would be hanging up the mic, thats about it. You've said you didn't appreciate what he brought to the events and that fair enough, now lets leave it at that yes?

    Why?
There's a good few different people on this boards from various MMA clubs.
To say he will be missed from shows, well thats your opinion and maybe the opinion of others and you 're intitled to it but its not the opinion of everyone.
    Who said it was?

100% Yes, i've had my say on this topic.

Anyway the usual suspects have proved me right by reacting the way they did, they are incapable of accepting that someone might have a different point of view to them.

No, you don't get it. You have an opinion, almost everyone else has a differing opinion. Everyone accepts you have an opinon. No one agrees with you. What's your problem? Your opinion seems to demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of the role of MC at cage/ring events.

More importantly your "point of view" is obsure and anonymous. Therefore it carries little weight. Who are you and what exactly is your greivance?

Have you actually read any of the posts? You do know that not liking an MC isn't a particularly controvesial position to take. nobody really cares. Mark can be a bit over the top at times, and whilst I think he does a great job I can see how others might think differently.
