Apparently it is only available for the iPhone today.

There are a pile of posts over at iLounge talking about it and a lot of warnings to iPod Touch users not to load it onto their pods.

When the update is available it will be in the update part of itunes, when you connect your pod up.

of course loading iphone software on to your ipod touch is not advisory even though they share identical OS'

the ipod touch software will only be available through itunes as there's a charge for it. $9.95 if i'm correct.

Any idea on an availability date, I was under the impression it would drop today alongside the iPhone update.

/its there now if you manage! iTunes is acting the gimp at the mo.

I've given up on getting it for today. Very disappointing after downloadings apps and all. Some posts on Apple's support forums claim the update won't be available for iPod Touch users until 8 am tomorrow (Saturday), while another says 5 pm (doesn't say what timezone, mind).

I suppose putting the update off the the Touch owners makes sense considering how taxed the servers are already with all the activations of the iPhones, including the upgrades from first generation to 3G as well as the re-activation of first generation phones with the new firmware; even if our wallets are open ;)

Before you rush out to part with your hard earned dosh for the 2.0 upgrade consider this.

I did it on Saturday - everything is fine except I cannot get a wifi connection which worked okay before. Previously it used to list all the available connection - now nothing. Saw another post on the internet where someone had the same problem.

    Beware!

No such problems here. Miffed at lack of games ... just wanted to try Monkey Ball.

Happy with the Remote application, a very nice addtion.

Hey quick question! If I upgrade to 2.0 (i'm currently on a jailbroken 1.1.4) will my iPod be completely wiped as in all music, videos, calenders, contacts etc. I know all the installer apps will be gone but I just don't want to lose all my music?!! Thanks

    You loose your music yes.

Use SharePod (Win) or Senuti (Mac) to back it up first.

I think iTunes backs up your content for you.

I must be special then it sure didn't restore my music.
Everything else was restored or resynced (mail/cal/setting/etc) but not my content.

BTW I have it set to manually add content in case that affects it.

Perhaps that's why alright. Didn't have any problems upgrading (luckily).

I have the same setting. I manually add content. When I upgraded it automatically backed up all my data and reloaded it.
