    Hi,

Just thought I'd try my luck here first before ringing around more places.

We're looking for a photographer to show up on the day, stay for about two hours and then give us photos on a CD. No additional work. We've been quoted €500/€600 for this, which we think is unrealistic and unreasonable for two hours work, with no printing costs.

If anyone knows anyone that might be starting out and has a portfolio we could check out, just to prove that they do own a decent camera and can work it properly, please PM me!!

    Hi Broomburner,

I can highly recommend my photographer but don't know how much he would charge for what you're looking for. He's worth giving a shout anyway. His name is David McClelland and his number is 087 9532503. Google his name and you can see some fab wedding stuff on his site.

    Hope that helps,
    :)

Not sure what the charter is on posting mobile no's, probably best to PM those I'd say.

As for photographers, you'll likely get more response in the photography forum... there's a good few there that do weddings

Our photographer was very reasonable for a full day so he may be worth talking to. His name is Niall Fennessy and he has a website http://www.niallfennessyphotography.com/index.html
if you contact him tell him Ian and Aine recommended him.

that's not really unreasonable as for a professional photographer it's not just two hours work. there is also costs including the time for meeting you before and after the wedding, editing time, then standing costs such as insurance, backup equipment & computers, equipment maintenance, training, travel, they may have to turn away another wedding on the same day etc etc...

If you want someone for under €500 you'll only get a student or someone who does photography for a hobby and results can be very hit and miss.

If your budget is under €500, the best advice is to ask a friend to do it, or ask all the guests to give you all their pictures from their cameras to make an album or prints from

It's not 2 hours work, it's just 2 hours spent with you. The photos are rarely ready to go straight on to CD - there is normally some touching up required. I think they are something like 30MB in size when they're taken off the camera, and need some work before they would be suitable to print straight off.

Also, they're not going to get any other work that day, so if they managed to get all the photos formatted the same afternoon, it's a full day's work.

Edit - DotOrg beat me to it, and in better detail too.
