What is involved in being a supplier?

When I think of a supplier who intends on importing an item from a foreign country to Ireland, to sell...what is needed?
Import Licence? Logistics? A premise to store the goods?

I import containers from countries withinn the EU and you don't need any of the above. But I'm sure you'll need a premises to store the goods.

I'm sure you have to be a registered business and registered for VAT , but you don't not need for a licence unles your imports need a licence.

More info on what your importing would help in answering
