Seems to be MPEG4 alright. Sony manual indicates this:

See page 33 for specs: "Colour/TV system". Should be ok for our DTT then.

Bought one today! 32" version. Has MPEG 4 tuner. All DTT trial channels visible. HAS CAM slot so you can use CAM from official trial box. HD channel has stunning clarity!

Its a great TV I have the 40W4000. You wont be sorry. Onboard Menu and EPG for DTT is very easy on the eye also.

Slegs, yes its a fine TV and the EPG is very nice. Setup menus are well designed. Plus the remote is a wonder. Its one of the best designed i have seen in a while! Simple to use.

No digital text off the DTT channels though. What about you? Is the TV MHEG capable?

    The W4000 is MHEG capable.
Set the country option to UK.

Seems not. Link to owners manual here:

    http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/2697124221.pdf

On page 40 (Specifications) under TV System it says "Digital: DVB-T."
Under Colour/Video System it says, "MPEG2 MP @ML."

So it seems like an MPEG2 only digital tuner. As the trial is due to go to MPEG4 (only RTE stations left) in August, you won't get the pictures.

Also have the 40W4000 it is well worth it, excellent tv.

Did that maxg! Now have text from RTE on the DTT trial! Heres a picture of it.

    Thanks maxg.

Did as you suggested on my Sony 46x3000 & now have the text however, the green EPG button does not load the EPG as expected.
