watching poker on tv last night and one of the players suggested "running the board twice". i presume this means two flops, turns and river cards but what is the point in this and how does it work or have i misunderstood?

pot is divided for amount of times ran, eg if they decide to run it 3 times then the pot is divided in 3.

For each time a hand wins on one of the boards, a third of pot is given (or whatever it is).

You will often hear people asking "will we run the river twice".... this is what it means.

Actually on a side note, Are you allowed do this in tournaments? or does it depend on tournament rules?
