    Scenario -

Colour laser printer shared out from server.
Client computers connect to printer via the share.

By default I want the printer defaults to be black and white (Reducing cost of printing)

I want users to be able to change the properties of the printer to colour if needed - no problem, they have permissions

However, they do not change them back to black and white afterwards!

Any suggestions on how I can automate this?

Using Windows SBS and clients comps are XP.

Have searched extensively for this but I cannot find a direct solution for this to lock it as I wish.

However, I have shared out the printer now under 2 shares - 1 colour, 1 b+w.
I have installed both on user machines.

Use Group Policy i have restricted users from installing or deleting any printers. The b+w is set as default so if users wish to print colour they must manually select the colour printer.

However users can still change their default printer in the printers folder. Will just have to keep an eye on it.
