    Programme 1: Plane Crazy
    Wednesday, 9th July 2008

Plane Crazy is an entertaining and insightful half-hour documentary about people who have a passion for flying light aircraft.
In Ireland there are approximately 140 airstrips and 30 flying clubs and the number is growing. On weekends, evenings and sometimes even during working hours there are countless people who take to the air, enjoying the freedom of flying whilst taking in Ireland's breathtaking scenery.
We spend time with Gerry Humphreys, an ex-RAF pilot and organic beef farmer in Co. Limerick, who loop-the-loops and rolls in the air in his plane which is painted like a fresian cow. We meet Laura Russell, a Corkonian 22-year-old, who, when she was 18, developed a sudden compulsion to fly. Galway man Kevin Glynn works in bar-code scanning installation and was introduced to the notion of flying light aircraft while interviewing a prospective employee. He has since flown microlites all over Europe.
They share with us the excitement and joy they experience as they take to the skies.
