You been sarcastic? Hard to tell in here!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,110 ✭✭✭sei046

You sound surprised that someone likes your stuff?

Is that why you had to "try" in here with all the "non music people"?

Your pretty anxious to get to the compliments and move us along from our jokes.

So please tell me, and the rest of the forum, What do you want? What are you TRYING for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 306 ✭✭ItsNugget

Not surpised just seemed a bit over the top like.

Im "trying" to promote my music. Aint all about compliments. Ive no problem taking constructive crit or whatever. Just pushing the msuic out there ya know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,110 ✭✭✭sei046

Ok. THERE WE GO! so your looking for some criticism etc. Now thats more like it. You need to be a bit more specific in saying what you want from the people here or it looks an awful lot like spamming.

Writing that you were told to try here and then posting your music without any explanation wont get you far. And please call a bunch of pro audio lads you dont know "non music people"

That sorted, I will give it a listen first chance i get. The lads here will be great at the actual audio side of it. So its a good place to get some discussion on how it was recorded and there are some good songwriters/arrangers here so you should get plenty of advice.

    A brief critique..

You have a tune called "Austrian Underground" - Brilliant (That's sarcastic..)

Seriously - I couldnt tell that "Austrian Underground" had anything to do with the Fritzls.. If I have jumped to a conclusion about the subject matter then please forgive me.. Dont put me in a basement.. Please! :pac::pac::pac:

You need a few killer choruses Man - They just sound like pitched up verses.

Your backing tracks are not raw enough or dirty.

Get some "hooks" & drop the "Faggits".

holy crap you know what they are.

now here's the biggest coincidence ever -

a few months back i found one of those dolls in my girlfriend's house and she said he was called mon-chi-chi. i thought it a cool name for a track. this was in march i think and the track got signed around the same time.

then it turns out john Dahlback (yes the John Dahlback) has a track comin out in august called monchichi. what are the chances?

Yeah they're fcuking freaky looking things.. Cuddly & rock hard. Weird!

I think they are a bit of a phenomenon on the European Mainland.. We went to Amsterdam - years ago.. We're walking down the street & saw a Mon Chi-Chi shop.

A whole shop - full to the gills with them. "Normal" Dutch people were inside buying them. Did Anne Frank die for that?!

    Eh, No..

    Mon Chi-Chi's are 100% weirdweirdweird.

    They're wrong!

BTW.. Dahlback = Swedish for plagiarist! :pac:

ICN i have tracks with hooks on the bebo there check them out!

Studio rat nah freeze didnt do them for me. Although im mates with flip and nu as well. Never met freeze although hes one talented bastard from what ive heard.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭studiorat

Indeed and he is the Freezemaster...
I do vocal recording for Flip from time to time, always good fun.

I'd be afraid to go near bebo in case I got arrested!

Getting there N.. But the samples are too obvious Mate.

Go down the 2nd hand record shops, Get some old obscure rubbish, buy Recycle & chop it all up.

Or go the other way & get that kinda minimal techno hip hop / R&B sound thats out right now.

    You have excellent taste Sir..

Not naming any names now.. cough, splutter.. But I know someone who went out this weekend & bought Chris Browns "Forever" single, so that they could rip a 16bit clap sample from it with Recycle.

Thats a great clap. Sundays are Sampling days. :)

    Really? I must check now..

Sounds sharper & dirtier than anything Reason could throw up.

To be honest - I never used any of the "xclusive drums" or kits in Reason. Thought they were v.weak.

But whatever was done to it - It sounds v.usable now!! :pac:

the production on that chris brown track is so unbelievably bad, i genuinely feel ill when i hear it.

bad bad. it's an atrocious sounding record.

looking at the sales it seems that it's a rubbish song, badly produced and has a lot of money behind it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 306 ✭✭ItsNugget

Cheers icn but i dont make the beats myelf. Asd for austriand underground being about the fritzls its not. Its just a 32 bar verse thats happens to reference josef fritzl as a joke. The tune didnt have a name so i called it that for comedic value.

    Yup.

But I love that clap.. Thats all I can hear when that tune plays for the first few bars, then that awful synth comes in & its turned off.

    100% - A truely awful f*cking song.. Its a blood boiler.

yeah that clap has been used for the same effect in techno since it's inception. It sort of thumps as well as clicks (obviously the kick has a lot to do with it) and even in the ****test nightclubs, it punches through.

    lol at that synth.

oh btw the reason i have an embarassing familiarity with the song is that Mrs. Suited has taken quite a liking to it lately (and she's normally so well behaved!).

I was impressed with your lyrical concent. Its a pain to listen to some guy from ireland talking about life on the 'block'.

Production wise isn't too bad. Although in the track 'just like this' the sample skips out of time with the original beat, sounds awful but since you don't make the beats yourself you can't be held accountable.

I say keep it up, you could always try a flying lotus style beat which is becoming increasingly popular.

Cheers man! Yeah the drums on the sample are way off the drums on the beat i said it to the lad who made it but he never fixed it for me!
