Virus in PC all desk top icons dissapear. only navigate through task manager.

    Virus in PC all my desk top icons dissapeared. I can only navigate through task manager. The virus has by passed both AEG and Avast antifirus (Free versions) any suggestions?

    If your still wondering, I had the same symptoms on my old computer. Mine was a virus which labeled itself icon.exe.
    http://www.file.net/process/icon.exe.html
    It infects the windows process and works from there. Gone with a virus scanner.

    Possibly a redundant solution but have you tried just right clicking the desktop and selecting show icons.

    that or run explorer.exe through the task manager

    It happened to me, just hadn't thought of checking it.
