do the bathroom and the plumbing first,

you can then work the new electrics around the exposed floor / ceiling / stud walls

    ditto

If your new bathroom incorporates a shower this will need to be wired up. It is not a good idea to finish the wiring and revisit soon after for modifications.

Do first fix plumbing as this sets out where your bath etc. will be.

Then do first fix electrics including supplies for showers, overbasin lights, earth for metal fixtures etc.

Complete first fix electrics throughout the house.

    Then do second fix plumbing.

    Then decoration, tiles, etc.

    Then second fix electrics.

I'm assuming you can still use the old bathroom while this is going on.

That's how I'd do it anyway. The bathroom fixtures should spend the minimum time in danger of damage.

    I agree Sunnysoutheast.

Why are you moving the bathroom upstairs?

Do all neighbours have downstairs bathrooms?
Are you going to resell after refurbishment?
If so, will the new bathroom result in the loss of a bedroom? ( Not always a great idea )

    Just interested!

Thanks for all the replies - we wont be moving into the house until most of the work is done.

We want to move the bathroom upstairs to make the kitchen bigger the house is an ex-council house, unfortunely we will be losing a bedroom for this but we are not planning on moving for a good few years so i think it will be ok.

Can somebody tell me around about how long it would take to move the bathroom and do the rewiring? And also should i just buy a bathroom myself and get someone to fit it or just go with a place that sells and fits it?
Sorry for all the questions but im new to all this building stuff?

    Thanks
