Anyone recommend a reasonably priced hotel in boston near enough to the centre? Trying to finding something the past few days for the end of this month and its all a little on the pricey side!

    Cheers

It's a pretty busy place this time of year and there are few budget hotels in the city.
What sort of price are you thinking about ?

Staying there for four nights and decided its cheaper to split it, 2*2. Got Friday and Sat night for 150 pn inc taxes but its the weds and thurs which are the most expensive, seems to be the reverse of here where i'd expect to pay more not less at the weekends!

    Is that Euro 150 or $150 ?
How much is it for the Wed, Thursday nights ?

Wow, $150 in a Boston hotel on a weekend, that is dirt cheap.

So 4 nights is a total of $760 (150+150+230+230), which is $190 a night, which is approx Euro 120.

That is not to bad at all, where and what hotel is it ?

You would be doing very very well to get cheaper than that downtown this time of year.

Hotel is http://www.sonesta.com/boston/ - seems to have gotten fairly good reviews. Not exactly downtown but practically walkable

I'm staying here on my own, hence my cheapness with the bill - if there were two paying im sure I'd think its all much cheaper

looks like a nice hotel, Cambridge is a nice area too and is close enough to city centre.

i've stayed in many hotels in boston but never stayed in this one.

the jurys is very good and it's just off boston common.

the mariott is awful though which is located in cambridge.

That is a good hotel, it's right beside the Cambridge Side Galleria Mall which is good for shopping.
There is a shuttle bus from the Mall to Kendall subway station and the hotel is also about a 10 mins walk from Lechmere station.

If you want really good value you may wish to consider the Motel 6 in Braintree
Now Braintree is about 10 miles south of downtown but the Motel 6 is right beside the station which brings you to downtown in about 20mins or less.
There is also a big retail park and a few restaurants next to the Motel 6 and station.

Another out of town area but near a station might be Alewife
The Best Western Tria a 10 min walk to the station (witha crappy shoopeing center next door), there are also a few other hotels nearby (google it or use google earth to get an idea of distance).

Alewife is about 15min from downtown on the subway and the train goes right through Cambridge with stops at Davis, Harvard and Central Squares which are good places for pubs and restaurants.

Go to www.mbta.com for subway information.

Try the Howard Johnston hotel near Fenway Park which is pratically in the centre of Boston.

Can't remember exact room rates...something like $300 for 4 of us for 2 nights in there and it was a grand. It wasn't fantastic but had eveything we needed and was clean.
