Has anyone seen this Mendis lad bowl for Sri Lanka? He’s a spinner with an astonishing amount of tricks and he has so man y different bowling deliveries. On Sunday he took 6 Indian wickets for an average of 1.5 runs which is astonishing given how good India are normally against spin..
    Here is the destruction….

I saw him in the WI v Sri Lanka ODIs a few weeks ago and though he came with a big reputation the WI bats, particularly Marlon Samuels, handled him easily. Clearly he was in prime form versus India though.

111 wickets from 19 first class games, at an average of 14.54? Id say if he keeps that up theres every chance hell be as good as Murali! The real test is to see how he does at test cricket, where the batsmen wont be so keen to take him on. Based on what Ive seen of him, especially in that game against India, he looks the real deal tho. Anyone who can mix it up like that is always going to take wickets, and he keeps developing balls and coming up with new tricks, hes going to be one hell of a handfull!

There will never be a new Murali, but he will create a name of his own, if a player is really that good, they should stand out on their own, altho it is flattering to be compared to a legend like himself :D

Nice to see SL now have a replacement spinner now with Jayasuriya gone and Muralitharan with little more than 2 years or so in him

The Australian cricketers are rather overrated. Most of them don't handle spin very well. They couldn't play India's spin bowlers for quite sometime in each game. Although once they settled, they did get quite bold with their shots. I doubt Mendis would ever give them a chance to settle in! He's got quite the knack to mix up his lengths and directions.... But it would be quite the interesting match :D
