Men's shirts in "irregular" sizes?

There's probably a better word than irregular but it's late.

I've never really had need of a formal shirt until recently but when I went to buy one I couldn't find one that fit properly.

I'm a 17" collar but only a 38" chest. Any of the 17" collar shirts are like tents on me, width and lengthwise.

I know I could go to Louis Copelands or a tailor and get a shirt made but I can't really afford €100+ for a shirt.

Does anyone know of any sites that might offer something? M&S UK site has a "Made to Measure" section. Is this available instore here?

    Thanks for any advice

buy a shirt in the neck size that fits you and get it altered to fit your body, should cost less that twenty quid, probably well less than 20 actually. have done it myself occasionally.

Thomas Pink's website does a sort of self-tailored service where you give them your measurements and they make it up for you

    Thanks for the replies.

I didn't consider getting a 17" and altering it. When I tried on one (17 1/2") it was too big everywhere, shoulders, sleeves, length etc., so the whole thing would need to be altered.
Will try and find a local tailor and see what they say though.

Thomas Pink could be an option alright. Quite pricey.

I came across a site called http://www.ravistailor.com/ which has quite a detailed measurement section, with shirts starting at €39. Will research it to see if it's an option.

Next do "Slim Fitting" shirts - might be worth a try!

TM Lewin do shirts with shorter sleeves that'd be a start, their semi-fitted ones would probably help further again. They're down to about €37.50 in the sale.

    I've also found http://www.jantzentailor.com/

Based in Hong Kong. Looks dodgy but has a good reuptation, with variable delivery times the only real downside.

Think I might give one of these online tailors a go as I don't need the Shirt until September.
