On a Nokia 6230i, java applications requiring internet access use the so called preferred access point. This in the case of Vodafone is normally isp.vodafone.ie

I am aware of people getting opera, gmail, etc working on vodafone live. I can't figure how to do on the 6230i. I did try creating a personal configuration setting for an access point of live.vodafone.com This doesn't work for me

Please help. CS don't have a clue

due to a massively stupid omission from certain nokia models, the 6230i can't use the vodafone live access point for java applications. The problem is that it uses a proxy and for some unknown reason, the preferred access point has nowhere to enter proxy details. that's why it didn't work for you

so basically it's not going to work. You have you use the isp access point because it doesn't use a proxy and you can't get the 99c a day deal that way. My recommendation is you get a new phone, not a series 40 nokia. Examples include the 6300 and 6233

when you say you're aware of people getting opera etc working on the live access point, was that on a 6230i?

No Not on a 6230i, I think it was the N95

Looks like there's nothing I can do with this.

fraid not. The n95 doesn't have this problem. Its series 60
