    Hi again,

Almost finished drawing up the plans for the house now and am fairly happy with them...... just need clarification on one thing.

We have one side of the house given over to sitting/living area to the front of the house, then dining area in the middle and a kitchen towards the back. Its all open plan at the moment but we would like to seperate the kitchen and dining area from the living/sitting area. We were hoping to use a fire palce that would be open on both sides so it could be seen from dining area and living area. Hope to make it a feature with sme noce stone work etc..

It's going to be a gas fire and we have a chimney on the left wall of the dining area. What I want is to put the fire in the middle of the room and run a pipe hidden behind some stone work through the ceiling and over to the chimney. We have this drawn in the plans but the pipe carring the gas fumes has to be sloped and therfore will be sticking down a couple of inches from the ceiling. The architect has included an arch to hide this but i was just wondering is there any way around haveing an arch?? can the pipe from the fire just go straight up and then at a right angle through the ceiling to the chimney??

I know thats as clear as mud but if anyone can offer any advise I'll be delighted. Getting close now!!!!!

Have attached a section through the fireplace might be easier to understand now!!!

I dont know about connecting to the chimney but surely there is some form of balance flue available if you bring it to the outside. Maybe sombody in the know could help more
