My GF is only back a few weeks and said the locals treat the animals appallingly, she's not a Veggie btw.

Great photos all the same, good too see you using colour. ;)

Barry, according to the EXIF on the first photo, you travelled in a time machine and took the photos in February 2007 ! Is the clock on the D300 in need of adjusting ?

    lovely
did you have any issues photographing people? in particular women, I know by own experience the muslims can be sensitive on that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,741 ✭✭✭✭thebaz

Photographing people in Morocco is very tricky , some people were very receptive (some stuff i have yet to process) --

its that fine balancing act of trying to capture live action , un-posed, as opposed to getting lynched , or invading their privacy

A few foreigners thought i was mad , but i don't dispute that , i went to an Aracbic music / hip hop festival , where i was the only Westerner , lived to tell the tale , with some shots , i must work on

Rory -- i'll have to get round to setting clock , i'm lazy for things like that :)

The last two B&W shots are superb Barry. The first one is particular jumps out at me, and the second is so sweet.

Shot these in Essaouira and Marrakesh although was also in Marrakesh, but most of my photos are not of people, the fear of being attacked by an angry mob was much too great, I am very impressed that you got those photos here are a few I took, not quite the same kind. Also badly in need of post processing but I'm having some serious 'puter trouble...

Street shots of people is difficult , as Moroccon's don't like being photographed by strangers . you will get angry exchanges , which can be intimadating , so be carefull and respectfull particularly nside the indoor markets .Discreption and respect , would be usefull.

not sure if the sames rules apply in all Muslim countries, where they don't like getting photographed by strangers ?

I want to go to Turkey next

Don't forget as well that a strict interpretation of the Koran prohibits photography (images ).

Respect is of course a given. However, it's not any different to Ireland, no one likes a camera stuck in their face.

I've taken hundreds of photos in Syria without any problem, on streets, in markets, in the mosque, even one I was asked to take during the service. Approach, connecting with your subject and a bit of banter go a long way. And manners of course.

    T.
