Bleached Hair - Burns on Scalp - Questions

Hi all. I bleached my boyfriend's hair using Jerome Russell lightening kit. It's an all over one I did. He's complaining of pains/burns on scalp and neck - I think he has chemical burns, but they're moderate enough. Can anyone recommend a treatment/remedy please that I could buy over counter?

Also, his hair has come out too bleached looking, yellow. Would it be ok to put in a Clairol blonde or something dye over it in a few days, to tone it down?

Would appreciate any help. Thanks guys!

I don't know much about dying hair but I dont think putting more dye on top of a burnt scalp is a good idea! Tell him to go to a hair dresser, they'll know best what to do! They'll probably have seen this happen before!

    1. for the burns, if I get a full head of blonde highlights I get little scabs (only way I can think of describing them) on my scalp and this occurs in the places where the dye touches my scalp - I have never gone to try and find a solution as they do tend to go within a week or so and plus its only rare, but my point is that I was told I would not be able to get an all over dye due to this so this may be the case for your boyfriend.

    2. for the yellowness my friend used an all over dye which went yellow and she used one of the shampoo/conditioner for blonde hairs - john frieda, sheer blonde etc and it calmed down amazingly!

Hope he isnt in too much pain and too yellow!

I'd go to a hair dresser as well -

I wouldn't want to risk putting another chemical on already broken/infected skin... might make the situation worse

Take him to a professional salon
If you are lucky they might try help, if it is particurlarly bad, they might not touch it as people get sued for that kinda thing... :o
Bleach is NOT meant to be used directly on scalp - unless it is scalp bleach (which i haven't seen in shops to buy) and definatly dont put any further colour on top of it as it could wind up doing quite a bit of harm to his scalp..

And the person who said they get scabs after highlights

That is not good. They are in foil so that they do not touch your scalp. Your stylist should not be applying so close to the root, you could actually devolop a reaction to colour due to this bad colour application. Seepage is what that is called and it is not suppose to happen on customers as it leaves a very solid colour line and coould potentially burn the scalp and cause allergic reation.

I would take him to a doctor or hairdresser to check out the burns. In the meanime, put some aloe vera lotion on the burns to relieve it a bit. Don't put any more bleach on his head!
