Firmware update 2.40?

    I cant seem to update to the new firmware update 2.40 on my ps3 it just says there is no new updates available' yet my friend was able to download it no problem,I know Sony has since called it because of problems,im just wondering how come my friend was able to update and I wasn't?

    thoughts>?

    Its been pulled to potential bricking of PS3 during updates but from all the evidence I have seen its been blown out of all proportion with FUD by various websites, bloggers.

    If you really want to install it, you can download it here
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9D6NE8HK

    Put the file in PS3/UPDATE on USB key and update.
