Right ladies October is fast approaching!
I already have a dress that I got in April at a sample sale so it was really cheap. It needs a few alterations and I want to change the straps. Now my mam has decided we can do better and wants to start looking again! Unfortunately I value her opinion and now want to shop again.
I'm looking for less debs, more red carpet style. I love the dresses in Chica but my budget does not stretch that far. Any shop recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I'm looking for full length, empire line style.

hmm,did you actually like the dress you bought earlier in the year??cos you shoudn't have bought it if you didn't!
It's not your mum's debs,it's yours so unless you do want a different dress, don't bother!!

I do like it, but if I find a better one I can sell the one I already have. It really wasn't expensive so don't think I'm a diva wanting another dress!
I've lost weight since then so it needs to be altered and it may not sit right once it's altered ya know?

Can you link some of the dresses you like? Might have some shops you can head to.

How about you check the prices of some dress makers and see if you can get exactly what you want done?

I was hoping to just buy one but I could of course get one made. I'm so lazy lol, effort of looking for fabric etc!

Ok, well I don't know what the stock is like, but two good places are Pamela Scott on Grafton St and the dress shop in Nutgrove Shopping Centre (Rathfarnham).

At least if you get a dress made, you can be sure no one else will have it! I'm sure the dress maker could get fabric herself if you just tell her what kind you want.

Get it made! I had an empire line/halterneck/and below bust it chiffon split (satin underneath) dress made - It was a stunning and everyone said it was the nicest dress there specifically because it fitted me properly - the satin and chiffon material totaled at 80euro, beading 10euro and my aunty made it so it was free but my friends who got dresses made said it cost 150 for it. Best thing was that 1. I loved every bit of it because I chose it and 2. 2 months later my auntie took it up to the length of the second dress you posted and I wore it to a wedding!

However if you are set on buying one - try loadsss on and dont buy in places too mainstream - three girls at my debs turned up in the same dress from Coast and another two in Karen millen dress!!

how long does it take to make a debs dress?

    http://www.formalgownsdirect.co.uk

I bought my second debs dress from here, it was €171 including shipping and it took about 3 weeks to arrive. They are made to measure, if you don't fit their size chart, you can email them your exact measurements, and you can specify anything you want done to the dress. They come in 52 colours each, and you can specify if you want extra beading, a stole/shawl, the dress to be longer etc. They no longer do my dress, or else I can't find it. Here it is:

The front frill part is attached to a seam at the back, but it's loose and floaty, and then the part underneath is satin. Anyway, there's loads of chiffon empire line line dresses on that site.
