Ok - so I've decided to bite the bullet and join WW - have resisted for years, on the thinking that I got me into this mess (my weight) and I must get me out of it.........but it's time for an intervention - I need to be answerable to someone..........can any members out there give me an idea of what's involved - when you go for your weigh-in (first one and subsequent) does the whole meeting know what weight you are - cos I don't think I could deal with the embarrassment?

I think sparkpeople is better than weight watchers....if you have decent internet access.

But no they shouldn't tell anyone. The leaders have lost weight themselves they know how you feel.

Weightwatchers is really discreet, nobody knows your weight except you and your leader (and he/she will forget in as soon as you step off the scales!) Basically when you register you go up to get weighed, if there is a line of people then they usually stay a respectful distance back. Only you and your leader can see the screen when you step on the scales and he/she will point it out to you really quitely and thats it! Its pretty much the same every week after that. If you have a good week you may be asked in class what worked for you, and your leader may tell the class how much you lost, but no matter if you've lost 1/2lb or 10lb you'll get a round of applause and lots of support. If you've had a bad week, nobody will ask you anything! You can pm me if you'd like more info. I'm rejoining weightwatchers again this week so we'll be in the same boat!! As moonbaby says sparks is a great website, great tips and stories but i personally like the support you get from the group atmosphere at the ww meetings!

its so scary the first time but after a while you'll really enjoy the class, there's usua;;y some great craic going on. Also if you have a couple of choices for class and leader check them all out. Different times and different leaders will make a huge difference to your success. Some leaders will suit your personality more than other, so to have the best chance of success you need to have one that you click with! best of luck and let us know how your finding it!!

stuck with the meeting i'm going to on Wednesday until I can get flex at work, then I may change to the one closer to home, but at least the Wednesday one is on the way home from work, otherwise I'd find that as an excuse to not go!! thanks for the advice - will keep you informed!
