With Zim withdrawing from the competition, I reckon this means that 3 teams will qualify from the Belfast matches - Is this correct?

Not confirmed yet but it would seem the most logical thing to do but then again this is the ICC we are dealing with......

At the moment there is no 3rd/4th place match scheduled - perhaps the toss of a coin  or a bowl out at the break during the final :eek::eek:

According to todays Irish Times it is confirmed that there is now a 3rd place for Associate nations in the 20/20 World Cup. Its not decided exactly how the last place will be decided, but its thought perhaps the qualifying tournament will be extended by a day to accomadate the playoff

T20 extended to 4 days with playoffs on Monday evening and Tuesday morning with Final on Tuesday afternoon! :)

3/4th place off added to the itinery. The winner of this could potentially be in the 2020 world cup.

good stuff - now all we need is to pursuade jeremey bray and lanky to come back! Jezza scored 101 for the hills last week so must be in good form!

The bolded names are the same person ;-) - And he's retired from international cricket. Still plays for phoenix though.

Trent would certainly regain the captaincy if he came back.

I'm not sure about this at all - AFAIK Porterfield's the captain in all forms of cricket.

Thats just for the 2020's - Most of the European championships (including two ODIs involving Ireland) is being played in dublin. The two big ones against the Dutch and the scottish are being played in clontarf.

Stormont has a bigger capacity, that's why it's got the 20/20's, hopefully a lot of people will go to this -it's great value especially if you have kids as it's free in for them.

with 20/20 anything can happen but we should qualify - morgan, porterfield and niall o'brien have some decent scores in the format behind them and kevin o'brien's style is suited to the game too.

i'm nearly hoping we finish second so that we're in with england and pakistan and opening the finals v england in lords! it's also a pity the final's got moved as i would think attendance will suffer dramatically (i'm up for the first three days but can't stay until the tuesday) which is a shame.
