I'm a big fan of Jedi Outcast. Great single Player game. Some super Saber battles in it and the multiplayer was great. Nothing more fun then Force Choking someone up in there air then Force Pushing them out into oblivion!

Liked the first knights of the old republic and empire at war was pretty cool. Outcast was good but academy was beter.

Jedi Academy for me. So many great mods and sabre battles . Actually i might just re-install it now :)

If you've got a friend or two, Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefront II were absolutely epic.....

Rebel Assault II gets a mention because, despite a fairly poor on rails game, it had awesome live-action video sequences light years better then those in Jedi Knight etc.

I have to admit I was hugely disappointed by Empire at War. Battlefront has always been good. Never really played Jedi Academy properly. Might give it a rattle one of these days actually. How do the graphics stand up against today's titles??

Yeah I didn't like Empire at War either. Jedi Outcast holds up pretty well - any game based on the Q3 engine actually holds their own actually quite well even today. The saber battles can be great fun. I played the original Jedi Knight the last day however, was not impressed at all - aged to the point of unplayable really. But I guess that's what happens to most of the early 3d FPS title's - the 2d ones from the era that games crossed over to true 3d hold up far better like Dark Forces, Duke Nukem, etc.

No way!! A great game for sure, but Revenge of the Sith movie title was just as playable, and it had a bit (just a lil bit mind you) of a challenge because you could actually die...

Revenge of the Sith of movie title was pretty much Lego Star Wars with proper characters...a nice easy linear combo game...but as I said before, in Revenge of the Sith you couldn't go for your dinner without pausing...you could in Lego Star Wars!!

Don't get me wrong, it was fun, great fun, but unlimited lives...c'mon!!

Forgot about lego starwars, great games.

either KOTOR 1 or Super Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi. that was a fantastic game for it's time, the battle against Vader at the end kicked ass, the emperor was a piece of piss though

Well, Rebel assault II gets an honorable mention, as it was the first game I played with a joystick and also, the easter egg cheats in it were fantastic! Anyone remember them? The Wile E. Coyote thing, the dancing Stormtroopers, the funny subtitles?
I suppose the best I've ever played was Republic Commando. It was just an awesome game and I played it so much. Maybe it's just me though, I love Mandalorians.

    TIE Fighter.

Just remembered, there was a starwars homeworld 2 mod that was pretty impressive. No story but who needs a story when you've a fleet of new republic and empire star destroyed hammering the crap out of each other.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 921 ✭✭✭delta36

There is? Awesome! That reminds me, there was also a Star Wars mod for Total Annihilation, which was actually quite good.

Gametrailers are doing a pretty good retrospective at the moment of every star wars game ever made http://www.gametrailers.com/retrospective.php#Star%20Wars
Theyve done seven episodes and covered pretty much everything. All thats left is Galaxies which episode 8 is gonna be dedicated to.

If you're interested there's a half decent starwars beta mod for Sins of a solar empire. They've only the empire ships at the moment buts its spretty sweet. Screenshot below.

Dark forces two jedi knight was much better, gotta have actors for cutscenes and it had a better story as well

always had a soft spot for Shadows of the empire for the N64.

and jedi knight 2 for pc

Really enjoyed revenge of the sith on the DS.

Oh and rogue leader on the gamecube

Defo still Outcast for me. I really enjoyed Knights of the Old Republic as well. Going back in time I was mad for the Star Wars games on the SNES at the time. Still dip into them for some retro fun every now and then. I remember playing Co-op Star Wars Episode one on the Playstation and loving it. Used to use Plo Koon the whole time.

In the arcade I always had a soft spot for a quick game of Episode 1 racer.

Sorry I really should have specified - JK2 Outcast is the best multiplayer SW game.

I'm going to reserve judgement until the new game, Force Unleashed, is released :) SW on HD anyone :D

i'd say it'll be a very good game. revolutionary game engine me thinks. and a great plot. but i would be wary of one thing; and that's the game being very linear...like many of the Star Wars titles have been...i reckon it will almost play out like most movie based titles tend to...

Yeah, good point. I suppose it depends what you want from the game - the freedom to almost 'become' a part of the SW world by developing your own Force weilding character or just to move the pieces around in a game situation. Not sure... But if FU does a good job in being the latter, and offers good multiplayer modes (no idea what the deal is yet), it could be brilliant!

But I'm a bit of a KOTOR fan precisely because of the non-linear structure.

The best one for me has to be Star Wars Supremacy, or Rebellion as its called in the states. It's based in the HQ of Rebel Alliance or The Empire and is played on many levels, from diplomacy, sabotage missions to actual space battles. Oldie but a goodie. Retails these days at about €15.00. A close second comes Empire at war.

i never got into Empire at War...which was strange because I love Star Wars, and love RTS games...just didn't do it for me. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance...would have liked bigger scale battles or something...or bigger maps...dunno...one of these things where I'd be saying to game, "it's not you, it's me..." .... if games could hold conversations that is...

    Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader.

    I absolutely love that game.

Preferred the second KOTOR to the first myself.

i do like Force Commander and Rebellion.

but i prefer a good storyline over state of the art graphics, so, the Kyle Katarn saga and X-Wing Alliance always do it for me.

+1 but i didn't like the way it was so rushed. the amount of little clips that just cut here and there was incredible for a game of this calibre. you know the moments where a split second of a cut scene would flash up before another one started...very very amateur...

i have very fond memories of star wars on the master system when i was a nipper. played it to the finish about 100 times i'd say.

i remember finding a cheat with han solo which was the berries (after you found him, and selected him as a playable character, if he died and you went back to where he was again, he'd be there, only this time he'd have infinite health! bonus. only problem was on the death star level, if you miss-timed a jump and fell down a lift shaft where you'd usually die, he wouldnt, and with no way of getting back up you'd have to reset the game!)

    what a game.

more recently, I've been a big fan of jedi outcast. and i have to admit i loved lego star wars the first time i played through them. couldnt get through a second play through as it's a bit pants the second time.

lot of people flying the Jedi Outcast flag. what did ye play it on?? i thought on the PC is just looked so bad...environment was really boxey and samey...just a kind of clumsy game...

I got it on PC & i found it mesmarising, really well made, great visuals, story, characters & music, which was well placed to carve emotional depth with Kyle's pain at loosing Jan.
My only gripe is that the first and second planets looked identical
