    Hi all,
Due to play in Hollywood lakes this weekend - anyone know how it stands up to rain. Seemingly we are in for a wet few days and wondering whether they may close the course?

Not looking forward to another soaking:-(

    Thanks!

I think it should be ok. I played it on a very wet day, during a very wet week (weren't they all!!), last year and it stood up pretty well from what i remember.

Really enjoyed the course. Some really good holes on it. New clubhouse seems to be coming along nicely too.

Erm, don't hit driver off the first. a 4 iron or so to the corner will do. You'll only have 80 odd yards left in, albeit over water.

The day i played it the greens were very tricky so take your time on them.

Some really nice holes over and around lakes. Keep the ball dry and you'll be fine.

    One of my favourite courses.

Don't forget the number one tip there - all the greens slope towards Ballyboughal !
I've played it with a member a few times and he told me to watch out for this.
A lot of the greens will appear to slope one way but then the ball will start to tail off, towards Ballyboughal ....
Keep an eye on where the village is relative to each green and you wont go too far wrong.

Well what2do. Hope you enjoyed your outing.
Did you play Sat or Sun? I played Sun morn, no rain, light winds. Even with Patrick K's wonderful putting tips, I and my playing partners found it difficult to read the speed of the greens. :(
There aren't too many courses around with such difficult greens.

greens are great there. Whenever I have played it has been very dry and warm and they were incredibly fast. Would imagine with all the rain though you would have seen marked variation from green to green in speed.

thanks for the tips - played Sat through absolutely torrential rain. The greens are quite tricky ...slopping towards the city/ballyboughal even when you thought your eyes might be deceiving you!

Will have to try it in better conditions for the proper experience.

Bad news is that the bad weather is forecast for the next 3 wks.
