This will be the thread for discussing the Main Event that starts today.

Hopefully this way we can keep the Last Longer Thread clear somewhat and useable to see who's in and out.

    So discuss away....

Really looking forward to following this. What do people think about the whole November 9 idea? (Final Table won't happen until November)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 410 ✭✭Kannon

does anyone know are highlights being shown on the box at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

You will be able to see bits and pieces on http://www.wsop.com, and there are some streaming sites that will show some of the action as it happens (with no commentary or hole cards though).

Official coverage starts on ESPN later this month, and the Main Event is the last thing they show, so don't expect to see it until late September/Early October.

It'll be funny if 2 or more of the last longests make it to the final table.....

LOL... I'd say in the VERY unlikely case of that happening, we either split the amount, or give it all to whoever has the highest chipcount going to the FT.

Just to put it in perspective, the winner of the Last Longest last year went out in 78th.
The winner before that was Allen Cunningham who I think made the FT.

I'll be rooting for Connie and Gary obviously. Can someone stick up a list of all the boardsies playing?

They really want to curb there generosity
Tournament Director Jack Effel just announced that the first person to make a royal flush during the Main Event will receive a $100 gift certificate from Professional Massage, the official massage therapist of the WSOP.

Any chance of getting a list together of all the boardsies and other Irish playing? I've never been so out of the loop in Main Event time.

Edit: I know of Connie and rag2gar so far... What's the story with NFR? valor? RT? Daithio?

Tom Dwan made a raise from the cut off and found a caller in the shape of Dale Pinchot in the big blind.

The flop came down as prompting Dwan to bet once it was checked to him. Pinchot made the call.

The turn came and Dwan bet 1,650 when it was checked to him once again. This time though Pinchot raised it up to 5,000 and Dwan called.

Once the river came down as Pinchot led out for the first time with a 4,500 bet and Dwan called.

Dwan flipped over and wasn't too happy to see Pinchot's for turned trip eights.

Pichot up to 31,500 as a result. Dwan down to 7,500.

I like to think I make the fold on the turn there,

What day any the irish lads playing might go down for a look

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,900 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

    I imagine all days,

als, slow rollers to be shot

Raymond Rahme and one opponent were in a pot that went to the river. At showdown, the board read . Rahme's opponent opened and "queens and eights" was called. Rahme put his cards face down on the table and started sliding them towards the dealer. Just as the dealer took them and put them into the muck, Rahme grabbed one of the cards back and opened it, revealing an eight. He protested that he had trip eights and that the pot was rightfully his.

The dealer told him he couldn't win the pot with only one live card, and with his other card in the muck, there was nothing to be done but award the pot to Rahme's opponent. A floor was called, who made the same ruling. A second floor was called, and then an upper-level floor was also summoned to the table. Rahme has been vociferous in his objection that the pot should be his, but we suspect he is going to lose this argument.

    he deserved it

Tom Dwan (and Mr Plough) elbusto

Look Who's Checking Out the Action
Norman Chad is currently wandering around the room checking out the action and chatting up the players.

It is still unclear whether Chad and Ivey are on speaking terms again.

    lol...

Ray Romano raised to 600 from the hijack seat, and a player in the small blind reraised to 2,200. Romano called.

The flop came KQ3. The SB bet 3,000, and Romano went into the tank. Finally, after three minutes he called the clock on himself. With one second left to make a decision, Romano pushed all in with his 28,000.

His opponent folded AKo , and Romano showed his QQ .

"I thought you had pocket kings," said Romano. He's up to 38,000

    The Best Kind of Bluff

Steven "Cornell Fiji" Ware raised to 250 from the button, a player in the small blind reraised to 750, and Ware called.

The flop came {Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. The small blind bet 900, and Ware called. The turn was the {3-Clubs}. This time the SB checked, Ware bet 900, and his opponent called.

The river was the {5-Diamonds}. The SB checked, and Ware overbet 6,200. His opponent called, at which point Ware sheepishly said "Ace-high." His opponent showed {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for queens.

Then Ware showed his cards -- {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts} -- and realized he'd backed into the straight on the end. Ware is now up to 33,000.

Benyamine, Devilfish and Durrrr have all exited stage left....

    Pretty sick hand..

The Other Antonius Wins a Big Pot

Maya Antonius raised under the gun to 600. Charles Kelley reraised to 2,000 from middle position. Everyone folded back around to Antonius and she made the call.

The flop came down {K-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {8-Spades}. Antonius checked and Kelley bet 2,000. Antonius called.

The turn fell the {A-Clubs} and Antonius checked again. Kelley bet 6,000 and Antonius made it 12,000 to go on a check-raise. Kelley made the call.

The river was the {Q-Hearts} and Antonius led for 12,000. Kelley only had 7,000 left and made the call.

Antonius showed {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} and Kelley showed {K-Spades} {K-Clubs}. Andy Bloch was on the rail watching and mentioned, "It's a sick hand, you can't get away from it."

Antonius is up tp 54,200 and Kelley was sent to the rail.
