I'm going interrailing in a few weeks time. I don't have a Credit Card so have to look at another option to book our places to stay whilst traveling around Europe. I've got a 3V card and was thinking that it may be of some help to book accom. Thinking of using it on hostelworld website so therefore using it for the 10% booking fee and paying the rest in cash when we get over there.

So has anyone ever used a 3V card for this sort of thing and if so did you have any problems with it, cheers in advance....:)

I've booked on Hostelworld with my credit card numerous times. Once booked my credit card hasn't been required by any hostel or budget hotel once I arrived. I must have booked about 20 places at this stage.

    Unfortunately I don't have a CC :) - did you use a 3V card at any stage?

That's what i mean. The only downside to 3v card in this case is that you don't have a physical card for the retailer to check. I'm saying that i've never needed to have it checked and therefore you shouldn't have any problems based on my experience.

Sound, sorry read your post completely wrong. Heading away on the 21st of July so need to get the finger out. My only worry is if they are looking into my booking they may think something is up if they see the booking without any details:confused:

What I mean is that there are no personal details on a 3V card. For instance they won't be able to link my personal details of the booking with the card itself. Maybe I'm thinking about this too much and talking bull at this stage ha :o

I've not used the 3v service but my understanding was that you setup your personal details on their website and then the online retailer matches them to this like it would with a normal cc ?

And if not the retailer doesn't get your CC details - it submits them to the bank and the bank says if the details they are sending are right or not.

Anyways .. you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever that I can see !

Yah .. just .. err .. tell them Random sent you :D

Just to avoid confusion though (some people are idiots, others might just not have heard of 3v) - don't mention the 3v when you get there .. just pay your balance in cash or with another credit card - it's what we always ended up doing anyway :)
