Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy a decent portable muslin backdrop and stand? I have found loads of places on the net but I just want to be sure I'm getting good quality and a good price. Even if anyone can recommend an alternative?

Paddy Barker down in Cork can get em for ya. www.barkerphotographic.ie or try Gunns, when I was in there a few weeks ago they were on about them.
