1st Month Free - Xbox Live

Hi,

I am just wondering whether you get the first month free on Xbox Live.

I just got an elite and signed up to Xbox Live, gave credit card details but didnt think I would be charged?

Did i have to enter some code or something or do you not get the first month free?

Each Xbox comes with 3 silver memberships and when you first create your account i believe its a month free, not 100 % obn that though, this should be in the xbox forum

You can check when your subscription runs out in the settings. It might be an indications as to whether you got the free month or not.

When you create an xbox live account only with a new xbox then it will automatically be upgraded to a Gold account for 1 month. The first four seperate accounts that you create will each get 1 month for free and then will revert to the basic Silver accounts. Changing your account name each month kind of defeats the purpose of having the online account though as you'll loose you contacts and stats each time and it will also mess up any downloads that you may have made from the marketplace as well if you ever happen to need to replace your xbox console.

Have you actually been charged? I set mine up as a silver account, this was auto-upgraded to Gold for 1 month. If you set up a Gold account from the start then you might not get the 1 month free.

i used my credit card for xbox live when i first bought my 360 but when i wanted to cancel my automatic monthly subscription it was a nightmare. A while after i wanted to go on live again so i bought a 13 month subscription on fleabay for 19 euros and changed the locale of my machine to usa, works a treat, have it now 7 months, working fine.

You do still get the free month, it will just get added to the end of your subscription time an you can check your expiry date through the console. I carried over my existing subscription from the original xbox and still got the extra month for free once I setup the 360 account.

Apologies lads, I meant to post this in the xbox forum.

Anyhow, I have been charged €6.99 already. Looking at my membership when logged in, all it tells me is that 'next bill date' is monthly. It doesn't give me any expiry date!
