I notice that I am getting bit of CA on my 18-55 kit lens. Ususally when she's zoomed all the way in I get slight purple fringing esp if there is a lot of light. its never a problem in low light conditions but it well lit ones it is. I am using a UV filter.. is that helping/hindering ?

Any solutions ('solutions' that involve converting to cannon will be tracked down and shot!!)

You asking for pre or post shutter solutions?

Good UV filter won't make the chromatic aberation worse. Bad (=cheap) UV filter could make it worse.
Unfortunately there is not so many things you can do about it. Get better in post processing and start saving for better lens. Production costs of "kit" lenses are below 10 Euro - go figure :-)

I would hazard a guess that anything that'd help would be nice.

To the OP, unfortunately not much you can do, this is just a characteristic of the lens. You can correct it in Photoshop using the filter/lens correction menu and it works quite well.

Avoid high contrast between really bright and really dark, other than that and you are fine.

    thanks guys
re:E10 ? O RLY ? O.O ! that's a bit cheap alright makes you wonder how much an ubikkor fujinnon f.7 10-600mm lens would cost (if it existed) RRP 5000 manufacture price 100 ?

anyway. Borderfox you might be onto something there.. it seems to be apparant when the sky is about being all bright and sky-like. Also monies = non existant. Im a sick unemployed ex-student that needs to sit an exam before getting his paper.
