I use this Graphics editor more than any other, especially to add final details or colour changes to a photo. It also has a very good re-size feature which can add logarithmic filters to enhance tone.

I was asked by Leinsterman how I made this photo:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/anouilh/2573258120/

It began as a very vague impression on film, photgraphed around 1 p.m. on a very foggy Summer's day in Dun Laoghaire. Turning it to greyscale, upping the contrast and saturation and finally jiggling round with one of the resize filters did the trick.

It is virtually impossible to describe how a photo has been manipulated after the event, though perhaps others might like to share tips here?

Always used Irfanview on Windows. Dead handy little program.

This could be useful as a link thread for all the best post-production programs.

I've just worked out that the photo chosen by Schmap "At Howth on a Sunny Day") is a monotone version of a more colourful photo ("Speedboat and Seaspray").

Perhaps this is a current fashion?

I prefer the more colourful version.
