    just want to clear something up for a mate of mine...

    do people on third provisionals need to have an accompanied driver with them?

    he is adamant that 3rd provisional drivers do not need to have a licensed driver with them.

    is this true?

    Yes you need an accompanied full licence driver on a 3rd provisional licence also

    I'm on my third and my da is an instructor.

    He does now, and as far as I know he always did.

    Unless he is on a 3rd Provisional Licence/Learner Permit in Categories A, A1, M or W he is legally required to be accompanied.
