Yeah Nicky mentioned this in the $1,500 HE event thread,

gl, ship the bracelet, etc Marty

here comes an irish bracelet. there is only one other person who i would have loved to see up there but one thing is for certain we have 2 out off the top 5 omaha players in Ireland representing us here. tom and marty heads up would be an epic battle. good luck seniors.

im just back from the Rio and the lads are in decent shape.

Its going to take a seriously bad run of card to knock Marty from his current chip stack. He is sitting there happily folding out.

Tom is well known for being tight and had c.220k when i was leaving, a short stack is of no concern to him though.

it is omaha though so anything can happen. fingers crossed, i told them this evening at dinner that I wanted to be that drunk guy on the rail of the final table so that they need to be making it that far at least!!!

Wow Marty takes two out in a row. He must be close if not chip leader at this stage.

Yeah he is second in chips and has over a million now

Tom Hanlon just won a pot and now there are 13 left

Blinds are 8000/16000 so the shortstacks will start sweating when the blinds go up

    Down to Final 10

All on one table.. one more required to go out before they finish for the night..

Unfortunately I don't think the final table will be covered on the

    WSOPbin

link as it say their next coverage isn't for 1 day and 13 hours:mad:

btw, in case ppl dont know, David Benefield is Raptor/Aeron73.

    Both Made Final 9....

Anyone know of coverage online for the final table

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,445 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I'm afraid not, it looks like there will be no live coverage of this event either.

By hook or by crook we will get live coverage, even if i get a mate to film it and we stream it on the site. Just talked to Marty, he's his normal calm self and more worried about a fire/explosion out at the front of the Rio, though he did say the poker room looks unaffected!
We will of course celebrate him making the final by running a promotion asap based on his finishing position. I shall pass on the comments from well wishers. Heads up v Tom would be awesome

Fantastic - GL to both Marty and Tom. It's a mystery to me why Marty wasn't snapped up by PPP to represent them after his Open win. Adding a bracelet to that would be truly magnificent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,656 ✭✭✭dannydiamond

    GoGo Marty and Tom
    C'mon people, someone find coverage......

Totally agree, I though he was the ideal choice before Boyles got him, fair play to Boyles for backing him and getting him at the right time

GL to both tomorrow, excellant effert by both and a real chance of Gold coming home.

anyone know if hellmuth was anywhere near this explosion.

Epic showing from both, was following this from a long way out. Everyone would of considered this event the best chance of an Irish bracelet, I think either would be worthy winners.

    goodluck fellas

there's no online coverage of this because ESPN are filming it for one of their WSOP shows.. to be broadcast august 26th i think.. which means massive exposure for the two guys cause it'll be a 1/2 hour show with proper commentary, back stories and hole cards etc.. the same how ciaran o'leary got a lot of exposure because he won an event which happened to be filmed for their coverage

Can't believe that Billy 'The Croc' Argyros made the ft. After his carry on at the Aussie Millions cash game he doesn't deserve any more TV time. Still not sure whether hes a pro or just some rich guy whos plays the game p/t.

That's a pretty mean looking final table..

Seat 1: Kido Pham (Dallas, Texas) -- 1,080,000
Seat 2: Brandon Moran (Chicago, Illinois) -- 1,286,000
Seat 3: Peter Jetten (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) -- 492,000
Seat 4: Michael Mizrachi (Las Vegas, Nevada) -- 1,767,000
Seat 5: Billy Argyros (Melbourne, Australia) -- 729,000
Seat 6: Greg Hurst (Tazewell, Tennessee) -- 637,000
Seat 7: Tom Hanlon (Dublin, Ireland) -- 192,000
Seat 8: Marty Smyth (Belfast, Ireland) -- 1,068,000
Seat 9: Richard Harroch (San Francisco, California) -- 372,000

Seating looks like Marty and Tom might have to dance.

I'm expecting tom to try get it in the first 2 orbits

Final Table Bios: Seat 7 --Tom Hanlon (192,000)
There are two Irish players at today's final table. 41-year-old Tom Hanlon is one of them. Originally a bridge player, Hanlon has spent quite a bit of time at the poker table as well. This is his very first final table at the World Series of Poker. He is hoping to avenge an early elimination from this event last year

Final Table Bios: Seat 8 -- Marty Smyth (1,068,000)
Marty Smyth is the other Irish player today's final table. He and Tom Hanlon should have a cheering (and drinking) section to rival any we've seen so far in this year's World Series. Smyth has come to Las Vegas from his home in Belfast. He has been a professional poker player for six years and was the winner of the 2007 Irish Open.

    well said so far ....

    Hand #1 - Tom Hanlon

Marty Smyth has the button in Seat 8. Action folds around to the cutoff, where Tom Hanlon raises the pot; 84,000 to go. Everyone folds, and he takes down the first pot of our final table.

    mellor spot on man:p...

    wd man take it down..

    Hand #2 - Tom Hanlon

Richard Harroch has the button in Seat 9. Michael Mizrachi limps in before Tom Hanlon raises pot. Action folds back to Mizrachi, who reraises enough to put Hanlon all in. Hanlon makes the call, and just like that we have our first player all in.

    Mizrachi: {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {8-Spades}
    Hanlon: {A-Clubs} {a-Diamonds} {k-Spades} {6-Hearts}

The flop comes down no help to either player {K-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. The turn {K-Hearts} improves Hanlon to three kings, but brings a flush draw in hearts for Mizrachi. The river is the prettiest card in the deck, the {A-Spades} (because it's always the {A-Spades}). That makes aces full of kings for Hanlon. He doubles up.

Not that it makes a difference really but does Marty Smith consider himself English or Irish?
