Anyone any info on best places in dublin to look for acoustic gigs. Have been playing a lot of pubs outside dublin, mainly covers with 1 or 2 originals and am trying to break into dublin scene - don't know where to start though - any advice please!!

Captain Americas on grafton street usually have someone on monday nights, worth checking out if your starting off. Played there myself a couple of times, nice lil venue.

    Hiya

Your best bet would be to get a 3 or 4 song demo recorded and look up agencies for entertainment in Dublin and post them it, following up with calls, and also put some footwork in on the bars around Dublin, drop it into the Managers of the bars, early evening is best before they get too busy (note daytime calling in is probably not a great idea because the night staff are all at home asleep and you need a Manager who's physically there at night to chat with) be nice, smile, and talk your way in....
Try Farringtons in Temple Bar (Near PurtyKitchen) , Fitzsimons accross the road from it, Doyles in Phibsboro, if you're willing to go out further to the suburbs, the Palmerstown House does gigs too. Most places use agencies though and they will take a cut of your pay to book you in but if you're doing acoustic stuff on yer own, it's worth it for the gigs you can access, but try it alone too, it's worth the try as well. Good luck!
