    hi all
im planning on doing primary teaching this sept....well hoping...i did my LC 4 years ago and got 475points....so now im torn....my choices as now are 1.Pats, 2.Marino, 3.Froebel.....ive weighed up the pros and cons for Pats and Marino and tbh Marino appeals to me more????!!!
    What does everyone think???
PATS- Pros - extra subject, proximity2me, only3yrs, bigger,
Cons - extra subject, more hours, exams r after xmas, gaeltacht time cuts into the summer(i.e. working time)

MARINO - Pros - less hours, usetrinnersclubs/socs, examsb4xmas, more practical exp(every fri), gaeltacht during yr rather than end,get to practice Gaeilge daily basis..
Cons - further away, no extra subject, extra year part time

i'm not too pushed about doing extra subject tbh as none really appeal that much to me anyway...
please please let me know what you think???

    Thanks soo much!!:D:D

I wish I went to Marino after seeing it. (I'm a Froebel rebel). Just doing a summer training course up there at the moment. It's brilliant! Pat's is huge, 4000 students. Marino is that bit more personal. From what I've seen, the resources are fab, terrific lecturers too and the college itself is beautiful and really big and well equiped. Def go for Marino.

The 123 bus goes to right outside Marino and they come every 6 - 7 minutes, so its no hassle to get out there. There is also student accomodation on campus. And like you said, it's tied to TCD so you get a real college experience.

You'll get an ordinary degree for your 3 years in Marino, and if you want to do the higher degree (be one point higher on teacher pay scale) do an extra year/ thesis in TCD in the evenings. The extra year is tough tough tough. I was in my first year out and doing my dip so I had to drop out. I was doing 2 really interesting subjects and had an idea for my thesis, but I couldn't deal with both. Many people survive it though!

    Good luck! :)

pats give you the option to go to the gaeltacht during the year, you can go summer or easter x 2. in pats u can use dcu's campus. also the extra hours u do in pats, you do at night for marino. much rather a 3 year higher lever course than a 3 year ordinary. Its cuz we have the extra subject its higher level

    hi
yeah i left Pats as my first choice...but to be honest i wouldnt be devastated if i got marino either you know?it just depends if the points go up much as i did my Leaving four years ago and have 10more points than the points for Pats last year....
i didnt know you could do that with the Gaeltacht..soz now but wat do u mean by easterx2??like go in first and second year at easter is it??
any more info for me would be greatly appreciated....what subjects do you do??what are the best??

    thank you sooo much!!!:D:D

its do 3 weeks in summer or do easter of 1 and 2 year, so it makes sense to do it in the summer. i did irish and english for first and continued with english, there is no best sublect, its whatever your flare is in, mine happened to be irish and english. just look online what their courses are like. www.spd.dcu.ie
