I'm 22 and wanna get somethin nice, was lookin at an Integra dc5 but insurance is far too high, there's a few rx8's for around that price and i'd be willin to wait a while and pay more then 15k, what do yall suggest??? Nothing borin, want somethin nice to look at a bit quick too...

A lot of car for the money there... Insurance shouldn't be too bad, assuming you have NCB & full license...

I searched CZ for petrol/2-door/1.8-2.2, price range 15-17.5 (don't forget great discounts on petrol 2nd cars)

I'd love the type r but as soon as an insurance company hears type r and young male the price rockets! I've been lookin at celica's too, i just cant decide, rx8 is the top of me list likeness wise tho...petrol cost for it wud prob kill me!

Everyone has a Honda, defo go for somthing differant. If it was my money
I would be looking at a Nissan 180sx/200sx, pleasure to see them when you do and not everyone has one. A merc Clk convertable would be nice also.

There are about two million MK4 GTI's on the road these days. And 11K for a 2001 is crazy money.

Yeah i know what you mean, but at least when you want to sell it on after, you will get most of the money back, then on any other car in its class.

The MkIV GTi is probably the worst incarnation of the GTi, closely followed by the MkIII. The MkIV wasn't particularly quick, it was heavy and the handling wasn't great compared to previous versions. The current MkV has returned the GTi to form though.

Also good resale value doesn't mean good car. People have a tendancy to overrate and over value MkIV Golfs.

rx-8 is an ok car, its only when you get into the high rev band that you get the full use of the car and tap its power....


the previous rx-7s would be a better choice imo namely the FC model... the 92 non turbo 1.3 with the better engine carried on till the production ofthe rx-8....


if you can afford the insurance go for the twin turbo model.... though insurance companys dont like them so if you can get commerial insurance under a mates company.... you'll have argueably the best car on the road.

But a few mechanics i know tell me to avoid the rx 7 no matter what, i love em but i've heard too much bad about the engine having to be re built because of the turbos. Kinda scared me off

The RX-7 needs a rebuild every 40k miles.

There should be a wide selection of well maintained 6 pot BMWs at this price too. An E46 320Ci is a smart choice, though there's no replacement for displacement:D. A 318i from that vintage only has 118 bhp, which is meagre in a car that's supposed to offer a bit of driving pleasure.

Drive a 6 pot BMW, and then you'll see why 6 cylinders are so much better than 4:D!

don't be surprised to get this for 17k. Its about a 15-18% reduction, and there are fifteen gazillion of them for sale

Got a quote on the alfa there of 2k, which aint bad considerin my age, never even considered one of them coz i assumed it'd be too expensive! Thanks for that idea...hmmmm...its the first suggestion i've heard from this that really made me think
