Unlocking/Debranding a K800

I have a Vodafone PAYG K800 whcih I want to put a Meteor sim into.
If I put in the meteor sim it tells me that the sim is invalid. It will only work with Vodafone.

I paid €10 to davinciteam for a software update (not really having a clue what I was doing) Now I have a ****ty James Bond themed phone that it is extremely slow (snail pace) and it will still only take a Vodafone sim. It had been working fine but is now crap.

What should I do to make it work quickly again and be able to take a meteor sim?

You could try send it to Vodafone to have the software flashed. They may refuse because you'd put other software on it but I'd say you have a good chance.

If you've topped up more than €150 with Vodafone then request the unlock code for the phone on their website or via customer care.

Otherwise back to the davinci team and buy some new firmware and also an unlock.

If you are in Dublin, there is an eastern european or Russian guy who unlocks and debrands any phone for €20. He is based in a little cubicle in a shopping centre just off Moore Street (can't remember the name) at the rear of the Ilac centre.

He unlocked my SE W580i last January in less then 30 mins

    Good Luck... :)

edit: I just re-read your post, looks like Da Vinci only debranded your phone. I'm not sure if they can unlock.

Debranding is totally different than unlocking. The DaVinci team sent you firmware update that removes vodafone branding and reverts it back to the setup of the OEM.It also puts back on various apps that vodafone would have taken off. but it does not unlock the phone.

You will have to get it unlocked elsewhere. As far as I remember, the CD you got has a firmware upgrade part on it (I think..dont quote me)

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.
