I think this channel is free on Sky Digital but not sure as I don't have Sky.

You could watch it online on Eurosport but you have to pay.

Alternatively keep an eye on the site below as it may be shown. There's no listing at the moment for it but sometimes it comes up closer to the game and it's free.

    80mins + 2: Clermont try

Full time - Toulouse 26 Clermont 20. Watched the second half, well deserved by Toulouse. Good season for them, reaching the final of the HEC and winning the Bouclier de Brennus for the first time since 2001

    Good match?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,255 ✭✭✭anonymous_joe

The latter part of the second half that I saw was very good.

Two great rugby teams with superb attacking potential bashing into each other. What more could one ask for?

It was a great game lads! Very fast and exciting! Players looked like headless chickens at times but overall very entertaining!

I have downloaded this game (legally) from French TV (it was free-to-air) and I would love to share it with you but don't know how to do that... Any ideas? The file is 867MB and has French commentary (of course).

Oh and, ALLEZ LE STADE!!! CHAMPION DE FRANCE NOM DE DIEU!

And a little thought for Clermont... Ninth final and still no victory... :o

being honest i werent overly impresses.
only seen the 2nd half but it seemed to be 90% kicking (very poor kicking at that) and 10% 7's.

havin said that toulouse got a good try!!

Jesus you're hard to please! Here's what Planet Rugby thought of the game:
    What a match!

No one could have asked for more. Okay, Clermont fans could have asked for more, but no one can deny that France's two best teams produced the best game the country, possibly the world, has seen so far this year.

If you want to see a better quality video showing the highlights and with no commentaries (sh!tty dance music instead) go to http://www.stadetoulousain.tv/

    Click "Top 14"

    Then click "FINALE"

Then click "Les temps forts de la finale"

You can then right-click on the video and select "Zoom" > "Full Screen"

Was in France so watched the game on TV there. First half was awesome. The intensity was absolutely unreal. The hits and the rucking was mental.

First 20 mins of second half was WC2007 all over again. Ball being kicked up in the air to no particular person or area. Last 20 minutes of second half really picked up again and was almost as good as first half.

One thing to note though. I wonder what Ellisalde thought of Toulouse picking and driving in the last 10 mins, a-la Munster in the HC final. Someone should make that guy eat his words :D I am sure that he would have no problem justifying Toulouse trying to close out the game in this case

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,918 ✭✭✭Steffano2002

We did indeed "kill" the ball a bit towards the end but it was nowhere near as bad as Munster in the final! I didn't even bother watching the last 10-15 minutes of that game as it was soooooooooo boring! *Yawn*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 625 ✭✭✭theKramer

They didnt do it as much as Munster, but they still did it. Would love to know if any journalist asked Ellisalde that question, and what his answer would be :D

Was going for Toulouse, as they play for the jersey as well as the paycheck like Munster. Clermont are just the Chelsea of rugby.

    Hat-tip to MF site.

Just goes to show how 2 faced Toulouse can be!

    Post match interview:

Question:, for JBE, it's been one month since Toulouse were at the bottom of a hole after the H-Cup defeat in Cardiff. Does this victory erase that painful memory?

Answer from JBE: No, no it doesn't erase it as we could have done the double, Now, it's easy or pointless to talk about it. It doesn't make up for anything. Certainly the defeat in the final taught us to keep the ball at the end. I have criticised Munster for this, and we did this at the end, the pick and go, it's not beautiful, but it's realistic

    Two faced?

Everyone indulges in such self-justification after a win.

And Toulouse's idea of ugly rugby and Munster are very different. ;)

I wouldn't say that JBE was two-faced either. He was big enough to admit that while as a back he may not like closing out a game like that, that it has to be done sometimes. Winning is what counts in the end...

Would have a lot more respect for him now.

I actually thought the first half was the worst of the two, very loose.

Dunno. Maybe being a forward myself and seeing the intensity of the rucking had me blinded to other aspects :D
