Any other BOI customers here? Site doesn't seem to like Safari anymore. I can't log-in on either my imac or ibook. It's fine on Firefox and Camino though. Anyone else having this problem? I'm just trying to confirm that there's not something wrong on my end.

Never worked properly for me using Safari. Either parts of the page would not load or certain buttons and text boxes wouldn't work. IiRC, it was one of the main reasons I switched fully to Camino:p

I've never had any problems but I dont have a business account which apparently uses ActiveX. Safari v3.1.1 works OK for me.

I had the same problem last night but what i sometimes do is reset safari to fix it. I get the same problem with facebook

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,424 ✭✭✭440Hz

I always found it takes a couple of login attempts with safari but then it works ok once I actually get. Usually just go with Camino for it tbh

Logged in a good few times in the past few weeks without any problems. Now getting the session timeout error message. What have they done?!

when you go to the homepage of 365online.ie and press login for republic of ireland, it redirects you to 365online.COM

has this always been the way?? seems a bit odd to me...

Stopped working a few days ago for me here (3.1.1), I know a lad who works in their software department, might drop him a mail...

Having to use Firefox for one sight is a pain in the hole.

Indeed. The 'login to BoI 365' link on the main BoI page also links to the .com address so should feel pretty safe. What would be worse if some criminal were to cyber-squat 365online.ie and phis!

Apparently BOI have confirmed there's a problem with Safari. And given how long it took them to upgrade the site I'm not too confident about it being fixed anytime soon.

They're probably busy trying to find the various lost laptops with all our account details on them...

A follow up on this issue.

I got onto BOI today and the lad I was talking to told me that they installed 5 new servers for the online service on Wednesday and it is the root of the problem. They are working at the issue to rectify it but in the meantime are asking for affected users to use Mozilla Firefox for the time being. They are noting down any calls that they are dealing with on this issue so as to get a feel of the nature and extent of the problems encountered with Safari users and Mac users; Safari users on Windows are also having issues. I also had issues using IE on my iMac (Yes, I was that desperate!:o ) so don't use it to get into the site.

Oh, by the way, the IT rep I was onto told me that he was so impressed with mac owners and their tales of their machines and how cool they that he is going to get himself on as well :D:D:D

Everything was great until friday. Times out at every attempt. Bloody BOI.

Hope its fixed soon or i'll just ignore my credit bill and blame them :D

You can add me to the list too. Stopped working a few days ago and now have Firefox specifically for BOI

It's very annoying, I haven't tried Firefox on the mac for it. But why should one website not be standards compliant and get away with it? Given the number of Mac users there are by now there's no excuse. A bank of all places shouldn't have such a shoddy IT system and BOI's IT record isn't anything stellar.

Yep doesn't work for me either, how am I gonna get all my monies over to my caymen islands accounts now?.

Hey Ham'nd'egger, by any chance do you remember the name of the guy you were talking to?. Might be worthwhile sending him a link to this thread?.

We did that awhile back when the vodafone.ie website was acting the bullocks, and they seemed to sort the issue very promptly after seeing the amount of people that were bitching about it....

Man, I don't remember his name but I could always ring back and ask and see what it is. Personally I had to say his attention to detail was second to none and I can't personally blame him or BOI for any issues that Safari user have, however serious they may be.

At the end of the day, we make up about 5% of internet browsers; posts here merely make up a fraction of Safari users again. As I understand it, it is not a shoddy system as such; it is an IT system that won't let you in with a browser that it can't talk to and Safari happens to be one of them. BOI are at least telling us how to get around it for the time being until they make it Safari compliant.

What I don't understand is that it was working perfectly a week ago and I'd never experienced any problems before. So whatever is wrong it's due to some change recently made on their end. Surely they realise that and can reverse it. The fact that they haven't already means they're either incompetent or don't give a s**t.

EDIT: lol, I better take some of that back. I just tried logging again and noticed that they've added a new login especially for Safari users on the main page. I'm now able to log in with Safari. Woohoooo!

Except they haven't even bothered to do the CSS styles correctly on the page..... you'd think a bank would take pride in their IT system to at least look secure, but when they leave laptops with unencrypted customer data lying around I suppose a standards-compliant website is too much to ask for.

I can't get into my BOI account with Safari either. Just got a Macbook last week and have been trying all weekend. Lame BOI, lame!

Are you using the Safari login-screen? It's in red on the main page.

I am now. I didn't see it yesterday as I'm pretty slow. Thanks for the help. I guess I own an apology to my Mac for shouting at it.

    Thanks again.

    Login page has 3 options.

    Ireland
    UK
    - Safari users.

Pick the third option and it works fine.

Why on earth can't they just write a proper website? If it obeyed the standards there'd be no need for a separate login screen. Their entire IT system is rubbish, and the ATM's are very slow.

    Hopefully this is related...

I tried to open a business online account with BOI but they told me the apple OS is not supported and I could only use it with a windows OS.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so were they able to get around it without using Windows?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,230 ✭✭✭Breezer

Last I heard that was the case, and there was no way round it. Only Internet Explorer would work with Business Online. There are ways of running Windows/IE on a Mac though, I won't go into the details here but there's plenty of info on it on this forum (or Google for it).

Real pity. If I have to I will get a cheap windows machine but don't want to run windows on my mac.

Out of interest, why? You can run it in a virtual machine with minimum resources and put it away when you don't need it. Cheaper and handier than having a separate machine just for the bank.

    Just personal preference...:)

Must run as an ActiveX if it needs IE - they're insecure and depreciated. Well done BOI.

And yes, I just haven't had the time or energy to switch bank.

BOL is due for a rehaul in 2010 AFAIK. I had a customer who like yourself wanted to use Apple but we could not accomadate. AFAIK BOI will be supporting Apple in the future.

    365 supports Safari BTW.

Tell me about it. Coming from an IT backround I understand your frustration. BTW I work for BOI. IT has improved since I joined but certainly has a bit to go to match AIB.
