    Hi,

For the last few days when I've opened Microsoft Excel, four miscellaenous files (which I have previously saved at different times and in different file locations) open.

So each time I have to close these four files down and proceed as normal. Havent noticed anything else different about excel or about any other programmes on the computer.

    Anybody got any ideas?

I know the virus X97M.Slacker.E virus is currently re-doing the rounds...maybe do a virus check and check:

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\User's Profile\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART Then delete book1 permanently from this folder.

    Might be that...

Yeah that sounds like its the problem alright.
There are a couple of different locations that it can go from, your basically looking for XLSTART / Startup (Excel) that contains files.

Doing a search for XLSTART (Include Hidden Folders) is a quick way of checking them.
