Vanilla hair spa in Rathmines - €35

That's way overpriced - you could get a stylist who's just as good, or better, in a different salon.
Wherever you do go, when you phone for an appointment tell the receptionist you're looking for a stylist who'll really listen - she'll know who does and doesn't.

I'm a girl who gets her hair coloured at toni and guy. Involves a few hours sitting around so I've seen men's before and after cuts and I have to say I've always been really impressed. They seem to make everyone look amazing.

What I think is really unfair about the price for men is that it's almost the same as they charge women like me with long hair that takes ages to blowdry.

Toni and Guy have stylists with different levels of experience so some stylists cost even more. I'd recommend going to the more expensive stylist, they seem to be better at things that aren't a standard trim.

If you pay for the expensive haircut now a cheaper hairdresser could probably maintain the cut after. I'd recommend trying it once anyway.

back in the day (5 years ago) I was charged 64 euro for a trim (about 3 inches off) in a Toni and Guy by the Art Director I was in a hurry and didn't have my hair blowed dried - I nearly fainted at the counter.....I didn't get my hair cut for another year to get value for my money!

Go to a local barber instead and save your few bob - we are in a recession now - ya know!

20 euro in The Barber Room beside Doyle's pub. Decent cut, the guy who runs it knows his way around a style or two.

Any fella that pays €64 quid for a haircut needs their head examined.

They are getting their head examined :)

That is quite a lot for a haircut though. I can see the benefit in a stylist ( I'm always a little disappointed my hair never looks like the guy in the poster) but I'd say you get better value elsewhere if you don't pay for the "brand name".

paid 25 for a dry cut in the new place beside powerscourt shopping centre in dublin city centre. not what I would usually pay but was for my wedding. It's a cool expereince, watching tv and drinking capucinno whilst getting hair cut.

How the hell does a guy justify spending 64 on a hair cut?

I pay €13 once a year in argos for one of these:

I dont just shave my head either. It's surprisingly easy to cut your own hair.
I haven't seen the inside of a Barbers in about 3/4 years.

I cut mine in January for an interview and I'm not gong to cut now for the rest of the year. It's pretty long now, too.

Anything over 15 euros (which would probably be Dublin's worst case scenario price) is just madness.

If you're just looking for a decent cut and no drastic change than you don't need anything as upmarket as Tony & Guy, a decent middle-market salon like Peter Marks or some of the barbers mentioned here should do the trick.

    I wouldnt bother tho!
Im a girl and i wouldnt even spend that for a cut!!!

Sounds like the way to go! Whereabouts is it? Grafton St end? What was the name and any one hairdresser you would recommend?

Ah, the classic back and sides.

Clearly a sign of cock loving if a man doesn't have it.

Dare I suggest that such a man might be one of those happy chaps? :p

Go to a normal barbers for a tenner.

You can then put the other 50 odd towards a pair of testicles.

Obviously if you have longer hair than you can and probably should pay more than most guys. You'll get less frequent haircuts and so can spend more. However, 64e is just as sales tactic of raising the price to give the impression of high quality.

I'm surprised actually.... Why all the stupid gay related jokes?

If he wants to try out a new hairstyle then go for it.... even if €64 is over the odds. But don't accuse the man of having to testicles just for asking your opinion on something he possibly might do.

But for the record, I think €64 is a bit too pricey. And no, i'm not gay. Put that on the record too..... wherever the record is

Try out GMALE in Ranelagh its only 20 euro and you get a complimentary beer while you watch any Sports of your chioce on your own plasma. Great service and good haircut.:)

The Merchant Barber in Temple bar is imo excellent - not a bad 'stylist' in the place. €16 for the works.

Ok the beer has sold me! Whereabouts is GMale with respect to the Ranelagh Luas stop? I can't seem to find its exact address.

Its besides Smyth's bar on the main street pretty central. The only reason i came across it was because i was going to watch the footy and rugby there and i noticed they were showing the sports so i killed a couple of birds and the beer on top made it a good chioce, plus they actually offered me a second free beer but i decided it would not be a good idea geeting plastered in a barbers as two could of turned in to three:D..its only opened a couple of weeks but its a nice place and i'll be going back!

Ok I tried G-Male and it was below expectations. In fact I would say I had the worst haircut of my life. This is to no fault of the salon, the guys in there were very friendly but like many other hairdressers/barbers, the experience was ruined by a moody Polish b****. She took everything I said literally and at no point questioned or suggested anything. She said all of two words to me, never smiled and seemed as though she was shearing a sheep rather than cutting a client's hair. There is no point in the complimentary beer when I had to physically stop her to take a swig from the bottle every time. I wasn't asked if I wanted to choose a channel on the telly and the other employees who weren't working were playing the on the Xbox. A little unprofessional if you ask me. For €25...I don't think it's worth it to be honest. All I wanted was for my hair to NOT look like it was cut with a ruler, I'm sure the guy on Camden St. charging €7 would have done a better job. I might try the one in Temple Bar next...

Yeah thats a pity i think i remember seeing/hearing a polish girl when i was there. I got mine cut by a really sound and very friendly girl from the north of Ireland and a bit of a looker at that. Shame you did not enjoy your experience as i really did enjoy mine.

TV's, complimentary beer & an xbox?

What's that got to do with a hair cut, sounds like a gimmick to get people into an average barbers.

Well I obviously fell for it then didn't I? They are relatively new, only a few weeks old if that. Their price bracket was comparable to most in their league so I thought what the hell. If they had been open for longer then maybe more substantial reviews would be in place for me to dissect. This was my first haircut in Ireland, I assure you I won't be making that mistake again.
