Training in London

What does anyone think of training on holiday either in your chosen style or in a random art you're curious about but never got a chance to try before?

I'm going to London for a weekend in about a month or so and got it into my head to either try finding a class, so at least I'll have a bit of training done for the weekend, or finding something interesting to try because there's a lot more random options available there than in the West of Ireland.

If there's something there you really wanna try I'd say give it one class and take from it what you can. Otherwise just enjoy your hols and take some time off.

If you need to do a bit of relaxed training while on hols just to stay sane fine, but apart from that take a break and return with new found vigour!

(turned into a bit bit of a preach without me noticing!)

Rob Sulski coaches in Peacock Gym and is brilliant, although his guys are fairly raw. Very powerful, very athletic, never give up guys that are great sparring partners.

Tokei Gym is very central and if you around at the weekend you can go to the wrestling training that the coaches from London Shoot Fighters and Rob Sulski go to.

Peacock also regularly has thai coaches over from Thailand and is an ABC too.

THere's London Shootfighters, the Gracie academies, and a few very good boxing gyms.

If you like Kung Fu (in the days when I did Kung Fu) there was a Shaolin Monk somewhere too.

    Peace

Go to Roger Gracie's place. It's a really top quality school. I trained there about 2 years ago. Top quality instruction.

Definately take the opportunity and yes there are plenty of options in London, lived there and trained for almost a year however,
because there's a lot more random options available there than in the West of Ireland.
    ,

Don't know where exactly you are in the West of Ireland but there are a HUGE array of options in Galway from Thaiboxing, Filipino Martial Arts, Kickboxing, MMA, Judo, Taiji, Gong Fu, Aikido and a whole load of other arts. And I might add, most of them with a high level of instruction in their respective arts!!!

You're not wrong there Dave. I live in Ennis and there's great kickboxing, tai chi and taekwondo in town.

Unfortunately a combination of weird working hours, not driving and a daughter means I can't easily venture any further away to sample some of Galway's delights!

No worries Mick. Jaysus, for a minute there I thought a Munster man was claiming west of Ireland heritage:D

What type of training in London would interest you Mick as a matter of interest?

Not pushed really. I'm pretty curious about most training styles. Doing kickboxing at the moment but have always been interested in trying a grappling style of possibly muay thai.

I only started back not being a lazy ba****d in January after a long lay-off so I'm still full of "must maintain momentum at all costs" zeal.
